    Post Best affordable apartments

I am strongly considering relocating to somewhere which is very close to the BTS or MTR or a klong, is in walking distance of a mall and has internet.

In the past I have lived in Ari condominuim in Ari which was walking distance from Ari BTS but it didn't have internet connection.

I once lived in Romance apartments which was nice but a moto ride to the end of Suk soi 97 and not near klong, MTR or BTS.

Grand Hi Tec Tower in Ekkamai is on the klong but has a dodgy rep and attracts a lot of police because there's a lot of backpats and farang undesirables living there. No internet also but has pool on the roof.

Thus far I am considering Ratchada, Prakhanong and Bang Kapi unless anyone has any better suggestions.

    My ideal apartment would be:

    Very near mall/supermarket.

Near a klong, BTS or MTR

    Have fast internet

Have a pool/gym or be near one

    5 k or less a month

    Look forward to your suggestions!

You'll be lucky with that budget unless you go very downmarket. Or did you mean 15K or less?

Anyway, I thought your visa was about to expire forcing you to leave the country?

    ^ agreed.

Even over the river where the BTS is being extended you will have a hard job finding a room let alone an apartment at that price never mind one with all of the above.

However if you are seriously seeking something with all or most of your requirements I would suggst that you look across the river

You might want to up your budget just a little Scamp, closer to 8 K for Ratchada. For that you can have a place with gym/pool that's a short walk to Robinsons, Carrefours, Jusco, and 2 Tops supermarkets. Tesco further down the road. New Esplanade shopping mall with cinema is a walk away too. MRT, just 3-4 stops from Asoke and skytrain connection. And Huay Kwang market at night has an unbelievable amount of fit girls walking around it because of the amount of massage parlours/karaoke clubs in the area.

No free internet, but that only costs 500-900 baht a month for high speed connection anyway.

If you wanna skip the gym/pool and take a place that's a bit further back off the main road then you can find a place for about 5-6 k, but to be honest you'll end up spending the difference on motorbike taxis to locations that you could otherwise walk to in 5 mins.

This site might help you out also...

Mr Roomfinder | Search Thailand Apartments, Condos, House Rents, Discount Hotels

This place is in a good location, 5500 Baht a month.

Apartments available for rent in Bangkok. Find homes for all budgets. Thailand's newest room finder. Free and updated service with interactive forum

Do for a single guy, or you squeezing Sandra in too? Coz that mind end up a murder case.

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Maddie again.

    There's this place...

    The European Place

But - the location is still shite - I don't mind staying in an old apartment but the loaction must be near a mall/supermarket and be near an MTR/BTS or on the klong.

Ladprao? Ok but even Chatuchack is the furthest BTS ststion - Ratchada? Why couldn't I get a place for 5 or 6 grand? Many Thai's do and plently of them also live in Soi 71.

Good advice, which is why I have lived in the area for 3 years...

(especially the bit about the night market, always makes a midnight snack more fun!)

Marmite suggested a good place on Soi 20 - it's only 35 grand a month for a basic room.

Down the end of Soi One (near the klong) there used to be small rooms for about that price, but everything you ask for is an extra - i.e AC, Internet etc. But extremely close to most things that you talk about geographically.

Ahh, maybe the price I saw was per night. In my defence, it was in Korean.
