Still looking around on DDproperty and craigslist and other sites. My internet connection sucks currently so its inefficient.

Ive seen some decent homes in the 35k range but its hard to tell the exact location sometimes because these agents lie about its true location, forcing people to call and get the run around and up-sell, like they do.

Probably gonna have to wait to get home to a good connection to look into this further.

I don't want to move up to 50k a month in all honesty. That makes Thailand a stupid decision because I could have a nice first world location in my home state. Why pay more to live in a third world country? Makes no financial sense.

Ideally, if Im going to stay in Thailand, it need to be 'cheaper' than going home, otherwise I might as well go home, or seriously look at another country.

There are some really nice condos in the 35k price range. I might look into this further as well, as it would solve all my problems with location and amenities. Its just condo + dog = sucks.

Bangkok is fuckin massive though. It be like going to NYC and taking public transport to blindly look for a place to rent. I need a plan of attack & I'm trying to get schooled up on locations & price ranges & how the contracts work so I'm not led around by the nose by some 'agent' blabbering away about shit trying to give me the up-sell.

This seems like it'll be more time consuming than I originally thought.

If you regard Thailand as being a "third world country", you should go elsewhere. You are, of course, totally wrong. You will not like Bangkok, and Bangkok will not like you.

...now, now Slick: you've avoided Diggy's point with distracting invective...I know it's your strong point, but such tendency tends to stifle conversations...just sayin'...

Maybe others will understand my logic, and this thread wont derail into weather or not Thailand is a 3rd world country run by a military junta rife.

It financially makes no sense to spend 50k to live here, when there are first world places that can be lived in with the same price bracket.

...perhaps not to you, but others might find the allure of an exotic Asian urban environment greater than, say, that of downtown Tallahassee...or an upmarket district of Mobile...

Plenty of nice places in Floriduh, tomcat. Its not all christian redneck truckers from the trailer park.

I get the allure, I moved to Thailand myself, and I want to move to Bangkok. I just don't really want to spend 1st world prices to live in a 'developing country' is all. I have the choice to live anywhere as my work is foreign, so I'm not tied down to one place for employment purposes.

...probably not necessary (in my case anyway): I have what I might call a first-world lifestyle on a perfectly ordinary (imo) income...that is, after all, one of the attractions of moving to Thailand and why so many falang choose to live/retire here...tapping into the accumulated experience of the posters here is a good idea...we might even end up as neighbors...

The annoying type of expat that defends the idiocies of Thailand like its his home country and lives in denial like the country has accepted him as 'one of their own'. Basically a Thailand white knight. Typically says shit like "If you don't like it, leave" when someone has a legitimate gripe/moan/winge about Thainess.

Not sure if its a real term, I was shootin' from the hip.

A highly invented politico/sociological term of convenience by those whom don't truly feel they fit in or feel threatened through illogical comparatives.

A conscious treatise to excuse themselves.

While you prefer quality BKK cock, no doubt!

I refrained from calling you a man for politically correct reasons. Do accept my apologies.
