    Do you like Patpong?

Went there with my brother the other night for the first time in years, it's still crap, maybe even worse.

What is it with tourists/visitors and Patpong, I really don't see the attraction and it has to be my least favourite place in Thailand.

In fact I don't see much need for having to use the BTS Silom line at all.

when i lived in Bangkok, my female colleagues used to insist on going to Silom soi 4, the gay strip.
I got quite good at camping it up with the best of them.

Safari is fun at happy hour. I usually leave after they play "Get Down Tonight" which has been a nightly tradition for what, 20 years?

I stopped going there when the street was turned into a market.
It's more relaxed and less hassling in Nana and Cowboy.

Much preferred as stroller says before the night market.
Lucys Tiger Den was a great bar.

Some of the hostess bars are quite good fun on Patpong 2 ... and I quite enjoy having a pizza at the little open air place next to Foodland. I notice with regret though that lolitas has opened up down there too now and have the girls out the front hawking. BTW, does any one know what the story is with that foreign chap that works on Patpong 2 pulling customers into one of the upstairs gogos? I often wondered how he dodges the boys in brown.

The only bars worth entering are ones with 'knockers oot'

I don't see any point in watching girls in swimsuits. I want nakidity.

Perhaps a topic could be started to keep abreast of which bars currently fall in line with my 'more tits' policy.

I have enjoyed one of the hostess bars on Soi2, Safari Bar and there's a big gogo bar not too far away from Safari with loads of fanny. Also, there's a couple of small discos near Safari bar which are good fun.

I lived in Bangkok for 3 1/2 years and i fooking hated patpong, probably due to the fact that i was new in town and didn't know the score and got stitched up in one of the upstairs show bars. I always used to drink in Nana or Washington Square and never had any problems in either place there.

I think the local expats who work around there get to know the ropes, and the places to avoid.
The fact is, due to it's tarnished reputation, Patpong is now cheaper than Nana and Cowboy- assuming you don't get lured upstairs to one of the clip joints that is.
Me- ferkin hate the place. I got stung there too, and the streets when the night markets are on are a nightmare. Just don't like the atmosphere, ain't been there in years.

Two years ago I swore I would never go back to Patpong, ever. Due to a confluence of circumstances though, I toured the area a bit last night. My friend and I came in the back way I guess you'd call it--not where the night market is--and had a fairly decent time. Those male touts are a pain but we just ignored them. Ended up at a pool and live music bar across from Foodland and had a great time from then on. Don't hate the place anymore but still prefer Cowboy.

Even 30 years ago Patpong rd was a POS.
    I haven't been back since.
Back then the Grace hotel cafe was the place.

With great places like soi Cowboy there is no reason to bother with Patpong rd.

Patpong was good 25 years ago. Nowadays it's only good for lessons in avoiding scams and tourists who don't know any better.

I've never liked Patpong. Not friendly, hustly, etc. I just don't like anything about it. For the nighty scene I used to enjoy Nana many moons ago, but not so much now. Many other places in BKK to have a good time.

^^Patpong was great before the tourists found Thailand. It was the haunt of American deserters from the Vietnam era and Oilmen on their days off. Safari, Superstar, Memphis Queen, Mississippi Queen, Butterfly, Pink Panther, Sugar Shack.. and others I can't recall. Fun for a couple of years.

nothing to be missed, it's probably one of the most boring bar with the most ugly girls in Patpong. Used to be good, but that was 10 years ago. Only the King Castle group of gogo bars have any interests, and even those have become insignificant in the recent years.
