    Thumbs down

If it's the beginning of March you'd be buggered. It is still open, I drove past yesterday and there was a sign outside saying something about the stalls having to be vacated by March 31st. It is a crying shame that this is to close. As I understand it, there will be a new mall and some appartments built.

Yet another sad example of how open public spaces that attract a variety of people are being given over enclosed shopping centres. How many more f***ing high end shopping malls does Bangkok need? There are already half a dozen along Sukhumvit, all selling the same stuff, at the same prices, in the same places, in the same shops. Mind you, I won't miss the over-amplified Thai music.
The truth is out there, but then I'm stuck in here.

Exactly. We are only spending 3 days in Bangkok and the women are going to the shopping centres during the day and we though it would be a nice place to go on the evening where we can take the kids and everyone has something to do.
Oh well, gues we will have to just leave the kids at the hotel and head to Soi Cowboy

Don't be too hasty. I asked a Thai friend yesterday and she told me that it would be another couple of weeks before it was closed. Agree entirely with the comment about needing more malls. It is total madness, also, Joe Louis puppet theatre will be looking for a new home. Shame on the crown property dept. or the armed forces who own the land.

Would you like them to remodel Bangkok for your 3 day stay?

i think there are signs up around the place that it'll still remain open until they got final decision from the court. whatever that means.

It means that it'll stay open until the owner can arrange a crew of bulldozers to go in one night and level the place. Standard MO.

If anybody cares to hazard a guess which prominent octogenarianish primary-colored-car owning individual ultimately owns the land (and many other malls, MBK and Siam Discovery included) they may start to understand why we'll see hell freeze over before the courts allow the current tenants to stay.
