Nearly a year in and the Junta guys still aren't getting it - making terribly wrong decisions and policies.

Have they learned nothing from their predecessors?

Why can't everyone go out at 5.00pm, have a few beers at happy hour prices, pull a scrubber and be back in their place of sleep by 10.00 pm?

Pretty soon, and when the streets of Bangkok are bare of money barring punters by 11.00pm the real powers at be (the Chinese thais) are going to bare their empty pockets and question the rules the goody 2 shoes are implementing.

It's time the farangs and tourists took a stand and cut off Thailand's great earner.

I would then love to see their little round faces crying!

The entertainment venues are already suffering, now early closures. Not every venue is set up for sex tourists either. Youngsters are entitled to their night clubs. This will cause deep resentments.
All the NP leases up for renewal, none will pay these huge rents, key money etc in this climate.

I cannot believe their stupidity and lack of common sense.

Pretty soon they have to admit the fact that their GDP major contributor is the late night-life industry or ban it and concentrate on selling rice, bananas, mangos and other produce to make their economic ends meet.

My buckets can last for 100 years and as the environmental people tell me.

They want me to put some UV degradation agent into them so they won't last 1 year.

Go figure the fvcking idiots in this world with the power to make stupid rules.

Aha! But THIS time it really is another nail in the coffin. Definitely and surely, without a shadow of doubt, possibly, more than likely, perhaps maybe this time it just might well be. I think.

If not, then next time for deffo.

They cannot stop the migration of male and female prostitutes from the the North East of the country.

    Fvcking sad but true.

They should be concentrating on supporting the poor rural people but instead cut off their only source of income.

They will never hurt farang, tourists or the whoremongers! They will just spend their money somewhere else.

They will only hurt their own and you just watch criminal activity explode when the needy get desperate.

Something i've never understood, why everyone thinks all prostitutes come from the north.

The local market is dominated by central Thailand prostitutes and the market is much bigger than the tourism market.

indeed, every province in the country has a surfeit of lazy barely educated young thai women looking for what they think is an easy way to make money and secure themselves a future without having to put much effort into it.

And i suspect you don't go to Thai bars only bars catering to farang.

Theres a lot more establishments catering to Thais.

What this present government will not openly admit is the fact that a lot of tourists come here for the available easy and cheap sex product.

The day they do accept that they have a social problem and provide solutions to help the poor I will be most happy.

This report is a fairy story.

Everything is the same in the City of Angels.

They might get on the cases of a few of the more notorius bars smack bang in the center of touristville for media purposes, but that's all.

    Business as usual in Bangers.

    No question.

The Hi-So rich Sino-Thai most hate make up only a fraction of the folk in BKK.

Most are there to sell them noodles, drop them to work or clean and secure their buildings.

    The "Hi-So" are the 1%

Bangkok nightlife said to be on midnight curfew until further notice

While the Buddhist holiday of Makha Bucha is over Thursday, the usual prohibitions on nightlife may just be beginning.

Bangkok police will order all nightlife and entertainment venues, parties and events to call it a night by midnight for the next two weeks, according to a number of organizers, promoters and owners who've been notified by police.

The alleged order will apply across the board to everything in the capital, they believed, from nightclubs on Soi Sukhumvit 11 and RCA to events such as the big Maya EDM party to be staged Saturday night on army-owned property.

A nightclub owner, event promoter and party organizer independently claimed to have been informed there would be no exceptions to the midnight entertainment curfew but that it would last for about two weeks starting this weekend. They did not want to be quoted or identified.

Between midnight and 1am early Wednesday morning, groups of army and police personnel visited a number of nightlife venues to order them closed. While such visits are normal on the eve of a religious holiday, several reportedly included warnings of the closing time to be imposed.

No ready explanation was available, and a response from police was not immediately available.
However in recent weeks city police have been under pressure and under fire from the military, who've sought to shake up the ranks with summary transfers and accusations of negligence following army raids of illegal businesses apparently operating openly under the noses of police.

In this past week police officials were placed on a defensive footing after officers were transfered and investigated following publicized raids by soldiers of illegal casinos. Since then they've made a show of proactive policing, such as in Tuesday's publicized raid of a Din Daeng district cockfighting ring.

Wanna clear up that conundrum? I thought NEP was set up just for foreign sex tourists..

Contrary to Loy Toy's assertions that all northeastern boyz & gurls migrate down to Bangkok to be prostitutes it would appear NOT to be the case in ANY thai/thai venue which out number the foreign/thai venues by probably 1000/1..

To a person thaiz who patronize P4P establishmentz geared towards thaiz don't like dark, dumpy, pug nosed isaan princesses. Christ they barely tolerate the white skinned Isaanese in there!

Given that the foreign/thai sex industry (while definitely "in your face") comprises less than probably a couple percent of the real sex industry, IF that; I don't see how a midnight closing is gonna really affect ANYTHING to do with real honest to goodness tourism.. <-which BTW ain't the foreign/thai sex industry...

Just an FYI, I was with some thaiz at a thai/thai P4P establishment the nite this mind wobbling news allegedly came into effect.. There was not an inkling of it, as in nothing and the places were open past midnight like always.. There were no soldiers, no police, no nothing.. Business as usual.. Now I dunno about the foreign dominated sex tourist areas (even though I live between Cowboy & Nana), because, like the thaiz, I don't care for those dark, dumpy isaan princesses either.

The people bemoaning that there's a curfew (which really remains to be seen, despite the dire news) need to really get a clue as to what really drives the tourism wheels here..

I thought everyone had to be in before the General gave his daily television pep talk.
So a few extra hours drinking time is a very generous concession by he who must be obeyed.
