    Cheap gyms in Bangkok?

After getting into the habit of getting home, sitting on the couch with a few icy beers and watching some downloaded docos everyday, I want to join a cheap gym to go to 3 or so times a week.

Went over to californiawow as some friends picked up the life-time membership deal for 10,000b last year. All their good promotions are finished though, and as I'm interested in a month or so at first it wasn't half as cheap as it was before.

Anyone know of some cheap gyms, only have to have some weights, for around 1,000b a month or so?

Have you been to the gym before? You might be better off simply getting a cheap/second-hand set of weights if so.

You can negotiate a membership- just play hardball and only deal with the gym's GM, not one of the membership associates- they'll give you a much better deal to keep you from walking out the door.

^^ Yes, but it's more to get out of the house, than just exercising.

Getting home and hitting the aircon, sofa, beer and BBC docos is good for 2 evenings a week.

5 is pushing it a bit.

Lumphini and some other parks have little weight areas etc. but too hot at the moment.

Don't believe the gym at lumpini is free (at least not for falangs)-- but I do remember it being quite cheap. And one more thing- while I was never bothered, I did occasionally see Thai roid monsters give farang a hard time--but for the most part everyone goes about their business. Seem to recall a gym called "rockys" that was supposed to be cheap (if it is still around, think you could see it from the skytrain on way to vic monument area).

That one is more like 2400bt these days. I was there 2 months ago. The cafe has gone, they would only give me one towel, they complained when I turned on the aircon upstairs, the sound system has gone, the water towers in the weights room and changing rooms have gone, there is no hot water or soap and they got rid of the fancy 'rain' shower heads and replaced them with crappy tesco ones and they've put a pad lock on the sauna and wouldn't give me the key.

Arrrrh that's better. I wanted to say all of that to the owner but they wouldn't give me his mobile number.

Thanks. Haven't heard of this before, but looking on the net it looks perfect.

Which looks like an exceptional deal. Not as good as the 40b per year that the subsidized Thai-Japanese youth club looks like though.

Century Park Hotel Bangkok : Facilities

Will definitely take it if the T-J club isn't up to scratch.

In an email dated Oct 18, 2013, the Century Park Hotel told me they no longer offer the fitness center to non-guests, at any price. 'New management.'
