    a few questions to ask

Hi i am coming over in April, question 1, how far away is the Dustin zoo i am staying at Nana, 2. are there any waterparks nearby, 3. what is the local exchange rate please, i was over last christmas when we got about 49,i can only get 42.7 Baht in England, at the present time, is it worth me just getting about £100 worth and changing the rest from a booth, i hit the old ATM at £200 a few times and the charges mounted up, thanks Ken.

I will try to answer these for you:

    1) Dusit zoo is in Dusit which is quite far from Nana/Suk. By car, maybe 45 mins if you're lucky. You could get a BTS part of the way (maybe to Victory Monument) then a bus. But, that'll probably take you nearly 45 mins. I haven't been there for years, was some talk of it becoming flats - best check online. Google: Dusit Zoo, Bangkok.

    2) Waterparks, mmm. There's Dreamworld which is pretty far away, maybe 55 mins on the expressway or get BTS/MRT to Mo Chit and then a taxi. It's much further than Dusit, but the expressway can be quick at certain times of the day.

    3) "Local" exchange rate will be similar to any other. Is it gonna go up or down - good question... I'd wait and get money locally, but you'll need to speak to a poster called Papillion to get the best insider info. TBH, coming from England I might get traveller's cheques just for the security and peace of mind, but I'm probably in the minority.

Have a good time. BTW, Papillion is also an expert on the Nana ladyboy scene, so you may wish to send him a personal message.

The best waterpark in Bangkok is Suan Siam up near Seri Thai (Minburi Area).
Just under and hour in a taxi where you are if no traffic.
There's a photo thread here by one of our much loved members, Chitown to give you an idea of what to expect...

    and their website...

I presume you're bringing kids to the Nana area? They will love the family orientated entertainment and people in fancy-dress - it's just like Disneyland!

I wouldn't bother with the zoo then. Seriously, there's loads of miles better places to spend a day in and around Bangkok. There's err... ummm.... well.... what about.... hmmmm....

Seriously, The Ancient City is worth a look. Take a couple of days in Ayutthaya and have a nice longtail boat trip around the island visiting a few of the more worthy temples. If you have time a weekend in Cha Am is nice. A prostate massage on Suk Soi 33, three dirty bitches at Eden and finish with being buggered to death by the chorus line of a katoey caberet.
