    Heads up on wedding suit

Just wondering if anyone can help me out..I will be in Bangkok for 4 nights early next month to register officially our marriage before heading off to my girls village for the traditional Thai job with her family.
She had mentioned something about me wearing a white suit, so I looked around online over the last couple of nights and saw lots of blokes wearing pretty much the same looking no collar white suit - sometimes with a sash?
My question is - is it just as easy to rent one of these suits in Bangkok, or is it cheap enough to get one tailored up........if so - any one know of a shop for this.

Trying to watch my pesos, as I am going to pay the dowry, and buying a whole white suit for a one off that I will probably never wear again seems like a waste to me...

You should easily enough be able to hire one near to where your lady comes from. That is if you're average farang size.

Paying sinsod. You need a white straight jacket, not a suit. Think man, think.

Has to be a troll posting. No one could be stupid enough to pay the parents of a prostitute or "cashier" for her long-term services.

    Ahh...the cynicism.

I expected some educated humor, but that's harsh...

We all pay for long term services eventually my friend.

Do you mean this kind of thing?

If so, don't do it. You'll look like a cock and you'll spend your entire wedding day thinking to yourself, "I look like a cock. When I get this fucking ridiculous fancy dress off?" Just wear normal clothes.

^ No need for formal wear. I'd leave the vest at home.

Walking distance from KSR (100m), there is a a road with a lot of tailors where you can rent all kind of wedding suits. Rented a tuxedo there long time ago, it was ok.

Personally I would say that the wedding ceremony in the village is not really for you, its for the benefit of your soon to be better half and the inlaws.... you should simply wear what they think is appropriate, even if you do feel like a prize idiot wearing it.

However I apparently know nothing of thai culture and am some kind of cultural imperialist as Dan, TD's most reassuring and culturally aware frarang, points out from time to time. So you might want to pay more attention to his advice, but if you choose leave the vest at home, I would suggest that you also ignore withnallstoke advice about the knotted hanky. knotted hankies should only be worn with string vests.

Thanks hazz - thats probably what I was thinking anyway.

To everyone else - thanks for your ideas.

I have since been told my girl is off to find herself a dress, and a suit for me.

I had an idea I would get a flaming, but - I have had some laughs.
