Suvarnabhumi Airport Transfers

What is the best method to make Suvarnabhumi Airpot transfers? Is there an internal-tram system, taxi or a long walk?

We will need to transfer from International Arrivals to Domestic Departures in early April. My wife is a wheel-chair passenger and we will have two checked-bags and two carry-on bags. We have eight-hours between our arrival at 2210 and our departure to Udon Thani at 0605. Any advice will be appreciated.

I see security guards pushing wheel chairs every time I've been there and they have the electric carts for vips and people with disabilities. It's not a great distance between terminals at Suvarnbhumi, so there no tram, for most passengers it's a short walk. Your airline should be able to arrange assistance without a big problem.

Thanks. The map I found online was not really a good indicator of distance. I am sure we will be able to manage. Afterall, Swampy is a world-class airport, just ask the folks in charge.....

And get a taxi from Suvarnabhumi to Don Muang ,unless there is a better way?

I was just online and Nok Air, on its web-site, says that they will still be flying from Swampy to Udon Thani during the month of April. So, no need for a taxi......

You don't wanna stay in the airport for 8 hours though.

I can tell you of some cheap hotels in Bangkok if you like

8 hours, take off two hours for faffing about with customs, checking in etc.

Get a taxi into Bangkok, grab a meal in Tong Lor or Ekkamai (not far geographically) then watch a movie at Major Ekkamai or Central Bang Na, chill out, grab another snack and that should be the 5-6 hours.

Even in the Biz Lounge, there is no alcohol on domestic flights

Taxi, hotel, shower, Cable TV, catnap, alarm call...............For me

traffic, wheelchair, check in/chech out, customs. and bkk aint exactly wheel chair friendly. 8 hrs just isnt enough time. i would white knuckle it at the airport.

They have people to whisk them off the plane, wheelchair waiting, and they get priority through immigration,so do people with kids, only have to worry about cabin luggage also.

8 hours is a long time, when your stuck with the wife

And you're guaranteed the plane will be half hour ahead of schedule on a long haul flight

That airport is a drab place to put it mildly.

The constant hum of the machinery is unescapable. It affected me bad because I'm epileptic and am sensitive to such sound.

All Air Asia flights I ever boarded in Bkk (no matter domestic or international) didn't have gangway(?)/ Skybridge access. You'll have to board a bus with about 150 other passengers, will be driven out to the airplane and have to make your way up some very old school stairs. (Unless there's something wrong with the plane, in which case you take the bus back and get resettled in the waiting area....)

If you are coming in with Thai Air, it might be a good choice to use them for the last bit as well. They'll take good care of you. (Only reason ever to bother with Thai - as they are pricy as you say.)

make sure your domestic flight leaves from Suvarnibhum, not Don Muang.
If you have an 8 hour overnight wait, check into the aiport hotel

I always fly AirAsia between Udon & Bangkok. Many flights use a skybridge rather than a set of stairs at Swampy, but they don't use a skybridge at Udon. You will have people waiting to help your wife at both airports.

Thai Air & Nok Air both use old, crappy planes and the service that Thai give on their domestic flights is often terrible.

I am watching for a reply to that one as we will fly Nok air to Roi et later in the year, do I book the day before or buy tickets on the same day we fly?

I think hiring Taxi would a best option for luggage transfer and also for you and your wife because as you said that your wife is having a problem.

There might be a problem if he's transferring between terminals in Swampy, don't you think?
