Skytrain construction pictures: A random selection, guess the location

A while ago there was a request for some pictures of the BTS Skytrain being built in Bangkok. After some trawling and compiling, its a pleasure to share these.

of mine was an engineer on that project so got a quite informative tour..bloody interesting..very similar but you'd think they would have gone for Bombardier trains.( like KL)...so quiet ..the SkyTrain is such a noisy bugger!.
Don't know what trains in BKK ..German Swedish??

..noticed some of the KL trains have a Japanese/Bombardier name plates?

i can remember being in a taxi on sukhumvit, 60 feet above the road they were constructing asoke station, massive concrete beams were being swung into place and workers were swarming all over the mid air site and yet down on the street traffic was never stopped normal life was not interrupted one bit.

They have ordered some new ones off Siemens so if they are going back to their original supplier they are indeed German.

The BTS trains have the Siemens name plate located throughout each car. Siemens is a German firm, but doesn't guarantee that they were built in Germany.

The trains are built in their factory in Austria but final assembly is done in Thailand.

I do believe that the train running on the Silom line actually are made by Bombardier.

Small world. Only ridden on sky train in BK once seemed like a good idea considering the madness on the roads. Still wonder with the mega congestion you would have to have mega lines running everywhere to make a dint in the congestion. Still good way to see the city as a tourist in the non rush hour.
