Looking for hotel in Silom Area

I am coming to BKK in Jan. and need a reasonably priced hotel in the Silom area. Not knowing anything about BKK except stay away, I'm looking for a place that's clean, no druggies, drunks, or prostitutes. Am I asking for too much? Thanks

^The Dusit Thani Hotel on Silom should fit the bill.

What's your definition of reasonably priced Ralph ?

The Dusit Thani is around 4000 baht a night, reasonable when compared to Europe, I suppose

Depend for how many nights and your definition of reasonable. Silom Village Inn? The boutique hotel off Soi 7 sorry don't know the name.

Edit: the small hotel in Patpong 2 just down from Foodland is OK as well.

I don't think that any hotel in Silom could guarantee this.

I'd check out the Tripadvisor web site reports, plenty to choose from.

Have stayed at Silom Serene hotel in Soi Pit Pat (right next to Bank of Bangkok HQ 60m from Silom Rd ) over many years and never had a problem. Was there earlier this month and got a rate of TB1900 inc internet and parking.

Narai, further up Silom Rd, had a web rate of Tb1800 but it is a fair hike to the BTS Chong Nonsi

If you dont allready know mate , dont book direct with whoever you choose to stay with , try going through Agoda first ,, save a decent bit of wedge , the following week you can eat a nice piece of steak instead of eating kao man gai outta plastic bags

The old Mandarin Hotel on Rama IV is not bad and it's been completely repaired since the fire. About 1000 baht a night including breakfast through Agoda. The only prossies there are the ones brought in by the guests, and that is reasonably discrete. It's about a 10 minute walk to Patpong.

The Dusit Thani is the only one I know of that has virtually no prostitutes inside, they have and enforce a no guests after 10:00pm policy even though they are close to Patpong. Expensive at about $130 usd a night but quite pleasant with excellent but expensive food.

I spent a few nights at the Narai Hotel a few years ago. It had nice rooms, clean and in a good location. The web site shows the standard room under 2000 baht. No drunks or druggies around, don't know if any of the ladies were profesionals or guests. I also spent a few nights at te guest house hotel at the Bangkok Christian College on Pramuan Rd just of Silom. Defenitly no drugs, drunks or prostitutes there and very cheap.
Life is a state of mind.
