One word...AWESOME
One word...AWESOME
Cheers Memers...we appreciate the time and effort to post all of these...what an adventure...something not many others have done...
that stretch of road used to be in the Guinness book of records as the longest main street in the world.
nice thread Memock
Great thread, Memock.
Kununurra will shortly become the most important place in the world for me
Got any pictures of the town you can put up?
WOW!!!
Wish I could do that trip, was great reading about it.
Thanks MM
Hi Thetyim, sure I will see what I can find. Cimboc might be able to help you there as well seeing he used to live there.
However, before I do that.....
My brother emailed yesterday saying that the paperwork arrived for his license and by the looks of the pics he sent he is taking advantage of it.
Seven Barramundi in 30 minutes with these two the ones they took home.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
^ Now I am very, very jealous. Reckon they'd do a charter for me next dry season?
Yes I am sure I can arrange that at a better price then if you did it with a company. Plus he has lived there since he was 10 years old so knows all the best fishing holes. Just let me know closer to the time.
Now I know ho I could miss out this great thread: I have been away while you started posting pictures.
Thanks anyway for the great thread.
Did I get that right, the pilot was your brother?
Yes that is correct Fabian.
He just sent me some more photos as well so I will upload them soon.
Impressive landscape. Too bad it is such a long flight to there.
You mean from Germany?
Only a couple more hours further then Thailand
Here are some more pics from the other week when he took it out.
Note the angle of he landing, said it was steeper then he thought and it started to slip down the side
^ Looks like a strange place to put paving stones down !!
Yeah those Aboriginals were always a little 'strange'
Lovely looking chopper mate ... we'll be back up that way soon
Keep me in touch with your movements.
Great thread, interested to know more and I might put some of my happy snaps up when I can, not sure if new members can or not yet. Must read the rules.
Anyway, I used to work near Kununurra, so interested to have some discussions here with you MeMock
^Welcome aboard Nawty,
Where abouts did you work? How long ago??
All over the place.
First job in the kimberleys was Ord river station back around 22/23 years ago.
Many of those photos bring back some very good, some very bad, some funny, but all great memories of the Kimberley and NT times.
Lotsa stories, maybe should write some up.
I spent several years flying in the territory and nth queensland and kimberleys a little bit.
Knx was my home town for almost 20yrs (grew up there) we spent most of that time living on the Ag Research Station (down the rd from MM) I also remember frequenting Home Valley Station regularly before it became a tourist attraction and in my late teens worked just over the border at Rosewood Station for a little bit.
Ahh those were the days... wouldn't live in knx now but (although I had been offered a position there recently) Our next great adventure is Bkk in 2009 for 10 months

Yes you get older and wiser and then would not go back to places like knx to live, for holidays and fishin trips sure, but not live.
I also lived in Katherine and Darwin for a long time, I would go back to Darwin to live, loved that place. Still remember fondly the old airport and all the fans.
I remember the research station, take that old dirt track down to the river crossing.
Also think I did a job at rosewood, will have to dig out a cattle station map to see, certainly a couple of places on the border there.
Well we live in Bkk, not such a grand adventure anymore. Time to move on me thinks.
