Congrats William!
Congrats William!
Thanks to all for your kind wishes.
Well, written contracts were signed today and the process is now well on the way. I've yet to decide how, exactly, I feel about this. The truth is, I wake up in cold sweats during the night wondering what the fuck I've done. It has been a week when I know who my friends really are, simply because I bore the shit out me - so I can only imagine what it must be like for them. While certainly of interest, I'm finding it difficult to accept the fact that this might be it!
I keep thinking I'm leaving the comfort zone of something I know to wonder the big wide world - where people might actually expect you to think and work...
^I thought you were going to Australia, not Germany

Even better is that there's a Guinness session on tomorrow (Wed) night.
... you obviously never heard of the old "she'll be right mate" work ethic of the typical Aussie ... but I suppose being a lawyer you'll probably turn this into cash.Originally Posted by William

You know anywhere else that does cheap Guinness on a Wed?

Well,
Today I finally got confirmation that DIMM were looking at the sponsorship application and it was time for me to make the 457 Visa Application (plus pay the AUS$190.00 fee). I have to say, the online application process Employer Sponsored Workers (e457) - Online Applications is really something Thailand should think about. That said, the forms and process here is way too complicated. You need to authoirse this person, move there for uploading supporting documents. Luckily I'm going alone and I'm not supporting anyone, otherwise it would be a complete nightmare. Nonetheless, it has taken me more than 2 hours and it is still not completed - as I now have to wait for my authorised mail respondent to accept that role.
Hopefully I'll have finished this by tomorrow.
Saturday should be an interesting day too. "I" (and "I" use that word losely) have 9 monks coming to the house to "bless my luck on my travels". I did point out that: (a) I haven't got a fucking visa yet, so "I" ain't going nowhere; and (b) RSA will be playing England at 2 a.m., so if you think I'll be up at 5 a.m. giving food to the monks, you may have another thing coming. Not so, I'm told. 15th September is a "lucky day" for me - so the Zen man says. Apparently, "16th is my Mother's birthday, she has been dead 8 years, so I'll be off to the temple that day - and not the day RSA play England" hasn't seemed to work.
I love Thailand - but sometimes the Thais are just too much!
Hi William,
I just got caught up with this thread.
An aussie huh? Who would have thunk it.
All the best for Sydney. I'll me just over the tasman if you ever need a weekend away.
Best of Luck on your new adventure
I still don't know why you don't fuck those monks off.Originally Posted by William
And so, I had my medical this week. Strangest thing, the Dr. told me that I'm in "perfect health". She did say, rightly, that she could not approve my medical, that needs to be sent to Sydney (at a cost to me of 1,500 Baht! so MtD is buying the beers tomorrow), but in her opinion she had not met someone of my age in such good shape. I did ask whether she had picked up the right file, as there was a somewhat fit 20 year old next to me. She laughed and was on her way. So, it would appear, am I.
In the meantime, if some 20 year old comes on TD telling you all he has lung cancer, HIV, TB, Hep B, etc., I guess you know who to blame
