  | Bali Arts Festival gets underway Bali Arts Festival gets underway June 18, 2011 The 33rd Bali Arts Festival is now underway, involving a varied selection of performances and exhibitions over the coming weeks. It kicked off on Saturday (June 11th) and runs until July 9th 2011, with many visitors seeing it as the cultural event of the year. While the opening ceremony has already taken place, there is plenty more to see, such as Arja dances, contemporary art, masked performances and film shows. The Bali Arts Festival offers travellers a selection of options to check out daily and they are spread out over the course of the day, so eager travellers can catch a multitude of unique events if they stay for a few days. In a statement on the official website, the organisers noted that all of the activities stem from the culture of Balinese villages. Anyone in the area for the final day of the celebrations should be sure to check out the closing ceremony, which will take the form of a mime dance and run from 20:00 to 23:00 local time.
