  | InterContinental Phnom Penh Concert Series Concert series opens with gifted young pianist Sarah Macklin Thursday, 02 June 2011  Cicilia Yudha will play Liszt on Saturday.  Cellist Matthias Diener will play romantic music accompanied by Nicholas Ong. THIS year’s InterContinental Phnom Penh Concert Series launches on Saturday with a recital by sublime Indonesian pianist Cicilia Yudha. Playing a programme including a homage to Franz Liszt and a sonata by Henri Dutilleux, Yudha appears with the support of the Art + Foundation in the hotel’s grand ballroom at 8pm on June 4. Currently studying her doctorate in North Carolina, Yudha made her debut with the renowned Cleveland Orchestra in 2003 and has won international solo prizes for her playing in Vienna. Her career as an avid soloist and chamber musician has brought her appearances in many international stages, where she pursues her passion for teaching and sharing the joy of music. The second concert in the series brings a remarkable cello recital by Matthias Diener accompanied by pianist Nicholas Ong. Wagner, Rachmaninov and Liszt will feature on the programme for their concert on June 19 at the InterContinental. German-born Diener has been principal cellist of the Basel Chamber Orchestra and specialises in contemporary music as well as the baroque. Ong has been a jury member of the ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition and obtained his doctorate from Juillard in New York.
