These lists are totally subjective, a better title would be "Best Known Blues Guitarists."

I reckon there have been a lot more masters of the craft that were never famous.

^ yep - good names in there but as for order, down to personal preferences - I like the sound of Hound Dog Taylor, but it is by comparison to some others very basic stuff, and probably wouldn't rate as 'technically proficient' enough to many . . .

Personally I think Clapton would be placed too high there, blues-style maybe, but for every decent tune he's put out there has been a dozen that it hurts to listen to 'Wonderful Tonight' anyone? I need a bucket.

I thought Gary Moore was a 'try-hard' and he wouldn't be in my own list. But that's just me.

I had not heard of #18 Hubert Sumlin till I saw the dvd of last year's Crossroads festival; see him (seated in white hat) on this clip from the show; turns 80 this year.
