![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Powerful Photos from the world's press Being a youtube junkie, I often stumble across all sorts of stuff. I came across this ivideo which really had an effect on me. It's just a collection of World Press Photos of the Year from 1955 - 2008. It's worth a watch if you have the time. For many it will bring back memories for others it will show events in history that they may not have been around for. Just powerful stuff. Turn the odd music down a bit and it will fade in the background as the pictures power takes over. Make sure you go full screen to see the pics. I got to the above collection through this video from 1963... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ^ Looked through the the first one. Interesting stuff. What struck me was how many of the earlier years photos were "iconic". Instantly recognisable, both with regards to the photo, as well as the "story" behind the photo. Noticably, I found many fewer of the more recent ones (mid 80s onward) recognisable, and indeed could not place either the image or the event. Reflective of how we (I?) get our (my) information maybe.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Txs. The Eddie Adams photo of the VC shooting that kid in the head...the little shrivelled hand in Mother Theresa's palm... So many memories. Thanks for this. I used to go see the Press Club exhibit every year. Many powerful photos. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ^ Thanks much for that, Nid. Can't remember reading it before. Eddie is so right...a photo captures that "Isshun", the essence of a single second, so easy to misinterpret. That happens so much in the news. |
