    Jintara Poonlarp: ม็อบสีชมพู (Pink group)

The song is, 'Mop see chom-poo'. It is not the yellow shirts or the red shirts in the streets but the pink shirts!!! This is an interesting concept for a song in light of recent demonstrations by the yellows and reds in Bangkok. Does it make a political statement too? Yes, the song does. Jintara is saying that the yellow and red shirts are not real competitors. She wants a new political formation based on love. This group would be identified by their pink shirts! Good for Jintara! Jintara was born on 12 March 1971, and this vcd was released on 11 February 2009. A special thank you to Nisamanee for helping to translate the title of the song, in particular, the word 'Mop' from Thai to English.

It's a Thai'ization of the english word 'mob', meaning an assembly of people, a protest, a demonstration, that sort of thing.

Sign me up for the Jintara Party!

Went to Jins village in Roi et on Saturday, karaoke in a field just outside all afternoon, actually pretty dull as the karaoke was just that digital electronic rubbish. These two songs are about 18 months old now, she has a new album out last month, quite a success so far. At least she does try some new ideas and does not just pump out the same old sound all the time. Pink party is a rare example of a song with a political theme, even if lighthearted.
The problem with Jintara, at least from the fans point of view is her management, if you can call it that. Even her very closest fans find it next to impossible to find out when concerts are on and he will even tell them a concert has been canceled when it has not been, almost as if he does not want anyone to go, strange. Also, she is known to be unreliable when it comes to turning up as he often overbooks appearances leading to cancellations at the last minute, really backfired last month. I have seen her 74 times but have really given up any idea of traveling far to a concert these days as you never know if it will be a wasted journey.

That's what I always thought until this year, the actual date on her ID card, and the date she celebrates is march 6th. Saw her mum a few weeks ago at 7-4 concert, apparently she could not remember the actual date at the time she was born, different times back then in Issan.
