    Is K-Pop going mainstream (again)?

I don't listen to the pop-ular music much. My only exposure to what's cool with the kids is the mainstream music-video channel that plays constantly at the gym. In the last few weeks in amongst the latest pop princesses and DJ whatevers I've noticed this little gem on high rotation...

Ronald McDonald never sells to children. He informs and inspires through magic and fun.

    So who are they?

Another manufactured K-Pop girl group with standard overly made up pretty young girls dancing to catchy beats. One small difference is they're a bit of an international mix with Kiwi, Aussie & even Thai connections.

Black Pink (Hangul: 블랙핑크), often stylized as BLACKPINK or BLΛƆKPIИK, is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment. The group consists of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosť and Lisa. They officially debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single album Square One.

    Members:
    1) Kim Jisoo (Hangul: 김지수), known as Jisoo, was born in Seoul, South Korea on January 3, 1995 (age 21). Jisoo joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in July 2011.

    2) Jennie Kim (Hangul: 김제니), known as Jennie, was born in South Korea on January 16, 1996 (age 20).[22] Jennie was raised and studied abroad in New Zealand. She joined YG in August 2010.

    3) Rosťanne Park or Park Chaeyoung (Hangul: 박채영), known as Rosť, was born in New Zealand on February 11, 1997 (age 19) and was raised in Melbourne, Australia. She placed first at YG auditions in Australia and joined the agency in May 2012.

    4) Lalisa Manoban or Pranpriya Manoban (Thai: ลลิษา มโนบาล or ปราณปริยา มโนบาล), known as Lisa, was born in Thailand on March 27, 1997 (age 19). She started dancing at a young age and was part of a dance crew named "We Zaa Cool" alongside Got7's BamBam. Lisa was the only person accepted into YG Entertainment during their audition in Thailand in 2010. She joined YG in April 2011, becoming YG's first non-Korean artist.

So what else have they done?

YouTube's official tally saw the music video for "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" garner a total of 36.2 million views within 24 hours after its release and became the most viewed online video in the first 24 hours by a Korean act and the second most watched music video of all time as at June 2018
    So is it any good?
    Nah, it's quite 'meh'.

It's been a while since SNSD (Girl's Generation) tickled the interests of the Western music scene. Is Blackpink gonna be the next big thing?

I think not. Apart from one hit song the rest is just a collection of videos of pretty girls dancing to mediocre electronic meh-ness. That's a market already saturated by Disney's pop starlets. Move along, nothing to see here.

A thread about a one-hit wonder, visited by TD's very own one-line wonder.

You won't 'get it' but others will dine out on the delicious irony.

Nice attempt at rescuing a thread you’ve conceded is of no interest to anyone...not even the person who started it.

It could work too. Fanboy Moron #1 Chitty will probably bite.
