Select a book you want, swap for one of your old books.
Saves wastage and up front cash that could be used more wisely for 2 types of bud.

I have got into the habit when travelling of leaving books I've read on park benches, airplane seats etc in the hope that the finder will enjoy a free read.

Before I leave on a trip I like to prepare my books ;
the first thing I do is break it's spine, then rip off the front cover and all the preamble guff.
Now it's all ready to start at page one, and as I read a page I tear it off !
The book become lighter and I never lose my place .
Sure I'm kind enough to leave pages lying around all over the place , and like Bower I hope the finder enjoys a free read.
The only downside was once, after reading in bed and ripping and tossing away, I woke to find a big plie on the floor -
what a read I had last night -
I thought but then unwisely stepped on them and went flying backwards...luckily the bed caught me .
ebooks are the best way
I converted in 2003 and have only fallen off the wagon on the rare occasion
