I download them from where ever using utorrent 2.2 in epub format and then send them by email to my self. I open the email on my gay pad and open the attachment in my books folder. Done.
^ Why dont you just synch it with itunes?
doesn't have that real book feel like a kindle or does it?Originally Posted by toslti

i like the dull grey pages
don't think you can beat a kindle....certainly not for value for money
my daughter has an android pad but i don't get much use out of it apart from online pool games
not quite grey but they do have a booksy feel to them
oh yeah
and the battery lasts for weeks and weeks
massive advantage

you sure you are charging it?
The new Kindle Paperwhite is only $119 and has a built-in light, up to 8-week battery life
How fucking delusional or disingenuous are you? I'm not sure which.....but would bank on the former.
Uncompromised Battery Life
A single charge lasts up to eight weeks, based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 10. Our breakthrough power management technology allows you to leave the light on at all times for the best possible contrast without sacrificing battery life.
Kindle Paperwhite [Previous Generation]
My Ipad is mostly on at 8 am and off at 10 pm with 10% charge left, backlit and intermittent wifi use. Probably lasts quite a while if don;t actually use it....will have to test....
But if you are 8 weeks away from a power point and only read 30 minutes a day, then yes, I'm sure the kindle is Uncompromising.....
I've got a Samsung tablet I use for reading, using the Kindle software. It works pretty good and the battery life just reading is about 22-24 hours. Using wifi or doing a lot of surfing using the 3G brings that down quickly.
The best thing to extend battery life is dim your tablets. The lighting takes the vast majority of your battery power.
My tablet has become my computer on the go. I use it for 90% of what I would normally use a computer for, plus use it as my library.
Things I use my tablet for:
Downloading torrents
Watching videos/Listening to music
Keeping my schedule
Surfing the web
Entering in student's grades(my school keeps the grades online). It's really nice in class to have the students call out their scores as I enter them via my tablet.
Keeping the books I'm reading available...my library.
At the language center I work at, I use my tablet for google searches (sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words), listening exercises and the like, playing online esl games and flash cards.
I bought the thing to read books on but the tablet's uses has been frankly surprising to me.
One thing I don't like about the Kindle is the size. I'd have to have the font size such that not much would fit on one screen. On my tablet I can get two pages.
As far as I'm concerned it's paying the price for charging 18 quid for a cd 20 years ago.Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon

this thread wasn't for you, it was for boon mee who wanted kindle books...Originally Posted by Necron99

But you took it down that path. No?
So never used one but..
All that good work and then deliberately or delusively misleading him about expected battery life when his two days of usage is probably pretty standard for a reader....
Such a fragile thing your world.....

none on piratebay either
Can't really read it on the beach though. That is the main feature of the Kindles e-ink format for me.Originally Posted by Necron99
I have had the basic kindle for a long time now. Wouldn't be without it. The battery life for me is about a month. Depending on whether I am traveling or not, I am what I would regard as an average user., 2-3 hours a day. Depends day by day as I travel 3-4 days a month when my usage goes up.
It's like having an ordinary book in a much more convenient package. Best buy accessory was the hard cover, because it makes it very robust.
I think ipad/tablet functions would be a distraction for me. I'm a bloke FFS.
