Frankie Valli concert in Thailand axed over political unrest

Frankie Valli concert in Thailand axed over political unrest
    Tue, January 21, 2014

Veteran singer FRANKIE VALLI has pulled out of a concert in Bangkok, Thailand this week (begs20Jan14) over safety concerns.

Twenty-eight people were wounded on Sunday (19Jan14) when two explosions ripped through the city as protesters continue to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

A number of other violent clashes have also resulted in nine deaths since November (13).

As a result of the growing unrest, promoters at BEC-Tero Entertainment PCL have axed a Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons show, scheduled for Wednesday (22Jan14).

A statement released by Valli reads: "I am truly disappointed that I can't perform for my fans in Thailand on Jan. 22. But your safety and security are more important and really matter to me. My thoughts are with you all. I promise I will come back to perform in Thailand soon."

I always think it's sad when you see these old guys, desperately trying to hold onto the fame. He's four months shy of 80......when is it enough?

Just trying to make a buck. Easy to do in countries where half the karaoke clubs feature your songs.

Shit he looks damn good for 80.

We dont really get commercials here on cable TV but the few we do on True Visions are often for concerts by him in The Philippines or KL. At least 2 or 3 years in the last 4 they have been over.

But I also have to admit I had heard nothing of this concert. Nothing at all.

Probably broke....unfortunately their popularity and success came before the mandated laws of royalties and just compensation. Otherwise, old Frankie [et al] might be sitting on their laurels, retired.

Maybe he still loves the roar of the grease paint and the smell of the crowd. If he can still cut and the punters go home happy, I say fair play to him.
If he can't hold a note and he just needs the money, that's a different story.

Cheers Norton. I am a long time fan, but his falsetto seems to have got higher if that's possible. Apart from the fact it no longer suits his aging persona he seems to be packing them in and keeping them happy.

Yea. Probably a result of too many anti-aging hormones and face lifts.

My dad pointed this out to me, thinking I was in Bangkok (haven't seen him since August)

Although he could have avoided central Bangkok altogether if he wanted given the venue

He looks better than Cliff Richard

Yep, agreed. That's all they know and if they still love doing it for paying punters, so be it.
