love the singing, hate these programs and moronic gesturing. If you listen without looking at the video it's not quite as impressive, obviously needs improvement but at 9 she's phenomenal. What is the golden ticket she won?

This so called moronic shows have, found astounding performers that may have never been found.
Two very talented kids, this first one has more passion.

Yes they have found one or two great talents despite their banality and constant upping of sentimentality and sob stories. The first girl is not singing correctly from a technical point of view as one lady studying singing points out in the comments.
Thanks for posting the first one otherwise I would not have found the other one. Having looked at a lot of clips now I am more impressed than ever. The first girl has passion that's true but cannot sing as well yet, lets hope she sees as much success as Jacky.
These shows are not really about discovering talent of course, it's about phone calls and making money from them. Most of the winners fall away into obscurity. From the UK's got talent and the x factor I can only remember Leona Lewis and Susan Boyle, where are all the others. Sadly some seem to be turning into freak shows and do exploit people to some extent. BTW I never said the shows were moronic.
I'm going to have another listen, that Jacky is the best argument for reincarnation I have ever seen!

I agree in that the first girl is more into her performance and I feel that comes from her being self taught, Jackie Evancho has had years of lessons and while that doesn't necessarily demean her talent she is not doing it with as much heart as the "self taught" girl and it is great that these shows and the Internet can bring forward such talented young people these days that may never have a chance otherwise.. It's the only way to get out of the established talent pool that is rife with nepotism and not necessarily the best talent.

That's just the sort of thing they look for, it's become more of a sob show than talent show. Homeless kid, one legged kid preferably abused, somebody with cancer or a contestant whose family just died in a crash, is about the level of the people running these shows now.
Nobody can teach themselves how to sing opera correctly, the first kid does need lessons if only to protect her voice.

Who cares if its a sob story its what sells, and gives the average joe on the street to get on in life.

    Is that a bad thing?

It is really as it's meant to be a talent competition and nothing else. As well as the sob stories many of them have people on just to make fun of them having no talent at all, which can be quite cruel. Usually this is in the early interviews stage so they will often chose a sob story or a freak no talent act to highlight as it's more entertaining. They just love it when a little kid cries on stage, one in a wheel chair of course is the holy grail even though they know such a person has no chance of getting anywhere. It's all about money and entertainment of course, discovering real talent comes secondary, as you can see from a lot of previous winners.
Opportunity knocks had scores of winners, only Mary Hopkin was any good and went onto success, and even she was not that great.

This is not to far from the truth:

Talent comps, now are to seek fame and fortune.

May i suggest you stop watching TV full stop, as there lots of stuff on there, that are sob stories and only used for companies to make money, and brain wash you.

why suggest not watching tv just because many 'talent' shows are somewhat exploitative and manipulative, plenty of stuff on tv is not, not including Thai tv of course.

If the people who go to these Auditions, don't realise they not have any Talent let them be exploited.

Lets look at the news for example do they manipulate and exploit.?

Not in the least.. I think the primary thing being overlooked is that they are entertaining to most of the public..Except a few really nasty sorts who'll remain nameless Xanax.. BTW looks like yours is overdue...

You don't have to be 'nasty' to see through this rubbish, viewing figures have dropped a lot as more people do.

    my what is overdue exactly?

One mans rubbish is another mans entertainment, don't like it don't watch and leave it for others to enjoy. Do you know what a Xanax is? Commonly referred to as a chill pill.

People are entitled to have an opinion if they watch it or not, not everyone is lobotomised by junk tv.

The Paul Potts one was quite memorable. Self-effacing and somewhat goofy looking guy who works at carphone warehouse gets up and does this:
