    Everytime I play the guitar...

    ...I enjoy the Blues.

Two or three times in me life I've tried to play the guitar, never got beyond a beginner although this time is different!

Each time, I start to really enjoy the Blues - which is not a genre I usually listen to much. Is it because the Blues seems to form the basis of most 20th century genres in rock/pop? Is it because it's relatively simple and straightforward for a beginner to get a hold of and understand? Is it because it's quite easy to start trying to write a Blues tune before just about any other genre?

I'm thinking of trading in my Ibanez for a Fender Mexican Tele...

Here's an example, right, just the nice little tune with a tale and a soul, with the 'walking' through style picking/strumming that's quite easy to get a technical grasp of and fun to play; not too hard to try and sing along to (badly...).

    Cycling should be banned!!!

I find Google Hangouts works really well.

Having briefly reviewed the videos, I'll get back to you around 2017.

No, it's because the blues resonates in our bones by default.

99% of us have lived the blues

I've had a bunch of those. The only noticeable difference is the electronics. But that's easy to change. I almost never listen to (recorded) Blues either but been playing it since high school.

^ Unkind. I suspect many people enjoy playing the blues, and I enjoy giving the neighbours the blues when I'm playing (hides the goat screams somewhat too).

^^ I kinda wanted a more bluesy sound. Also, I don't like the floating trem on me Ibanez, plus it needs setting up, so that'll cost money too.

Actually, the Ibanez was very cheap, probably better just to play it and learn then leave it here when I go back to Thailand and buy something else when I have the ability to know the difference... But, I spend more time thinking about shopping than practicing...

I like playing the blues walking strum stuff...

I'm talkin bout rootsy Blues. I like it better with it's fused, like Robben Ford, Gary Moore, Erik Johnson, Sott Henderson, and this guy https://www.youtube.com/user/GregsGuitars

The tremlo arm I got with my guitar is still in the small bag that also carried a lead and an allen key. Pointless bloody things.

Nah, DG isn't Blues but who could play Rock without being influenced by Blues? Difficult thing to define, too many variations. And like what is said about pornography ... I can't define it but I know it when I see it.
