How many times have we had this same thread now over the years?
^ In all fairness Gerbil, this form would be a hell of a lot thinner if it weren't for repeat topics.
New members come, opinions change. Half the posters probably hadn't joined last time it was asked, and probably won't ever go searching through the archives to find it.
It's all good.
Forgetting the one and only Carlos Santana amongst your vivid lists..
^ Taxexile didn't.
John Frusciante
Jose Feliciano
Jimmy Page
Dave Gilmour
Gary Moore
Angus Young
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Toss up between Mark Knoffler and Brian May.
but i did forget that one from king crimson, the one who always sits, just cant remember his name.
Yes, SRV and Santana deserve it. But there's only seven choices.
My view'd be a lot different. Sure BB King is great because he was one of the early ones. He's easy to copy. It's the guys I can't copy who get my respect. Of course I'd have to like their music too. Robben Ford can't be copied, Danny Gatton either, Albert Collins is in a class of his own. Santana is fairly easy to figure out. Guys like Clapton and Moore haven't a lot of originality, but I like them both. Steve Vai and all those other speed freak finger tricksters leave me cold.
all I see in those lists are dinosaurs
Mathew Bellamy
Jonny Greenwood

"Top 7" is not enough!!

Placing the likes of Julian Bream or John Williams in a list with those other guitarists is like listing a couple of gothic cathedrals alongside a collection of rooming houses and cheap hotels.
^^ Those are some good ones.
