Cost Estimates or Recommendations for redoing Garden

I was about to buy those "lawn" carpet to redo my garden, but the stupid lady I contacted was so dodgy about rate per sqm and explanation, I have decided to investigate the real costs before dealing with those one stop shop "gardeners" you will find other on the side of the roads here,

First I need 100 sqm worth of dirt, soil, compost whatever the name to prepare the land for the "lawn", how much would that cost ? lady said 2 trucks would cost me 7,000 THB but that she wanted 10,000 THB to lay it down

The Malaysian lawn we ordered was only 30 THB per sqm, great, but she wants another 10,000 THB to lay it down,

sounds a bit unreasonable, anyway I offered 20,000 for 110 sqm for the whole thing, she first asked 35,000 THB out of the blue, and then 25,000 THB but her explanation were so "dodgy", I didn't want to giver her satisfaction

so for 110sqm, we have:

- Lawn carpet = 3,300 THB
- 2 x Trucks of Soil [at] 3,500 THB each = 7,000 THB

Total Material: 10,300 THB

- Labor (2 Issan worker [at] 300 THB/day) = 600 THB

Does this sound unreasonably too low or is that about right ? any gardening company or gardener recommendation ?

PS: Stupid Lady Commissions for doing fuck all: 15,000 THB

10,000baht and I will lay your turf for you, all gardeners here quote the price as laid, you have a pretty good idea of the proper price

I'd say your grass prices are decent. They charged me an additional 2 baht per sqm (over the basic purchase price) to deliver and lay it.

3,500 for a truck full of dirt sounds very high.

infill dirt in Pattaya is a 1,000baht per lorry load

good dirt ie black was 4 years ago nearly 2,000baht per lorry load in Pattaya

and it wern't that good.

I don't think the members here who live in rural Isaan understands the price of
sand, dirt and soil in the more expensive parts of Thailand like Phuket, Samui, HuaHin, Pattaya and Bangkok.

DD and sunsetter's truck of dirt is only 300 baht difference.

yeah i do, just telling you the price i was told, nothing to do with not understanding how much it is elsewhere, i know how much more expensive stuff is in those areas thanks

flutterby, why dont you do some big circles with your turf? use the remaining corners as beds and features, maybe edge it with shingle or rocks to create a nice border,wont use so much turf then

This is not infill, but the expensive black dirt for growing stuff, so not sure if it's really high with transportation etc...

Actually the silly lady claimed that she had to go to some province to get the good dirt, which explained why it was so expensive, because transportation and she had to pay the police on the way. Her explanation were shifty at best, and even if true, it still doesn't explain her silly overinflated commission.

I will be happy for the whole thing to cost about 15,000 THB

It all depends on what lorry they are using.
Around 3 cubic meter on small lorry, 5 cubic meter on a bigger.
If you are getting 2 x 5 cubic meter for 7.000, then I would say it is a fair price for
your area.
You will need around 10 cubic meter to get a 10 cm top soil layer over your 100 square meter garden..

You do need a decent soil to be able to get the roots from the turf to anchor and grow into.

Definitely fair price for good black soil. All other price quotes sound alright to me, but the ladies explanations sound like a lot of bs.

Now, for grass, you might prefer to lay down 5-10 cm of sand first, for drainage, then 5-10cm of soil (black better but not necessary)

^ there is already sand, quite a lot actually, but need the dirt to make the lawn grow
