My buell puts out 30% more torque than my TLR but it sure in hell aint ever going to beat it, in anythingOriginally Posted by EmperorTud

The articles explains all is relative.
What it says at the end, the modern diesel is truly remarkable at the power it can achieve nowadays.
However sorry to say your Pickup will not beat the Camry.
Your diesel has more torque yes, but at a given lesser RPM. Therefore to put it into plain english for you. You have grunt but it runs out of steam fairly quickly.
The Camry is able to carry more steam and due to it more appropiate gearing suited for a highway driving will attain a higher speed than your pickup.
And I would like to point out, I have raced and driven against these pickups and beat them time after time. Actually it not that difficult. Just keep pedal to floor, wait for pickup to run out of steam usually around the 180km/h mark and the Camry continues to accelerate onward and into the distance.
Bye bye Pickup.
Case closed.

WTF is this argument all about, and what does it have to do with the Jazz?
A car's top speed will be based on a combination of its bhp, torque, and aerodynamics. The only way to find out is to compare performance figures alone (not the above three figures as there is no way to know which carries most weight) and actually race them.
Anyway, anyone driven a Honda Jazz lately?
So EmpTurd, you are saying that the torque makes the car quicker! The problem that people are having here is not that they are stupid, but they are having a problem as to exactly what you mean by "quicker"
That is a word that can have several meanings in terms of performance
so instead of calling people stupid etc, just read your own posts and apologise for being a little uneducated in your approach
Higher torque makes a car accelerate faster (assuming equal weight and drag etc), but it does not make the cars top speed any different
I have reported your post

We have established the Camry has a higher top end.
A 4 pot front wheel drive Camry hasn't got the torque to keep up with a 343Nm Vigo. Yes, the Vigo will run out of steam at about 170km/h but on the highway when there is traffic and top speeds on open roads aren't attainable it will outperform the Camry.
You just haven't got the torque. It's physics. It's impossible as your car does not have the power to pull away from the Vigo in those circumstances. The torque makes the Vigo more responsive and suited to those driving conditions regardless of gearing or anything else. Gearing on the Vigo is restrictive but it isn't an issue in 3rd/4th gear between 80km/h and 160km/h.
It's evident a lot of posters don't understand how torque affects driving and the performance of a modern turbo diesel vehicles.
Banging my head against a brick wall here.
Mortals you defy the Gods, I sentence you to travel among unknown stars, until you find the Kingdom of Hades, your bodies will stay as lifeless as stone.

That was my point about torque all along.Originally Posted by DrAndy

What's the point in commenting if you haven't bothered following the thread and are only here to start another shitfight?

Yes I bought one for the wife and find it great to drive after driving the pickup for 4 years, It,s a great little car and cant really fault it at the moment, other than the doors feel really cheap, I like the CD player set up with the controls on the steering wheel, I have only used the paddel sift a couple of times but seems to work well. Over all a great little car. I am only getting 15 KLM/Litre around town but I have a heavy foot. I will be intrested what it will be reading after the wife has been driving itOriginally Posted by Smeg

I conceded the Camry had a faster top end in one of my very early posts.Originally Posted by Travelmate
Nope. I've owned and driven several.Originally Posted by Travelmate

Thats pretty good. I averaged about 9 KM/Litre. (Camry)Originally Posted by Rigger
Making stupid comments is certainly your speciality Turdy
That was not your point at all, as usual you are twisting the facts by quoting only part of my post
It was completely your fault in the mis-use of English, and I was trying to clear up what was being said, not start a "shitfight". That seems to be your intentSo EmpTurd, you are saying that the torque makes the car quicker! so fuk off and keep your stupid comments where they belong

^ blah blah blah.
more stupid comments, but hardly an answer
as usual, Turdy blahs out

Seems like he does not know what to say to that.

I thought blah blah blah was a perfect answer to DrAndy's drivel.Originally Posted by Fabian
