Fukuda resigned as Japan's PM. The ruling LDP will choose the next leader (Sep 22 I think) who can call a snap election but does not need to do so until next September. Still, two PMs resigning within a year looks really bad. Maybe if Aso gets in with a new cabinet things will improve.
