    voted by the majority....

    Let's be honest here

You cavemen twats don't vote for anybody anyway, so the comparison is mute to begin with.

Americans vote for a person, Thais and Poms vote for an ideal. (II think I can, I think I can.) Retards group together. Please don't think the comparison is lost ...

News flash -- dumbass Poms as Thais are the same. The populace can't be trusted with the vote. I used to think the Brits were equals.

Damn, how wrong can a man be? Dumb cunts keep their privy ass wipes in charge.

Why would America ever think the twats were friendly? I've certainly learned a valuable lesson.

Anyone who chooses to stay in a POW Camp until his mates come home with him, should be considered a hero of the highest order. Easy thing would have been to sell them out and go home - one courageous lad to do the opposite.

The last 'Hero' UK had was Lady Thatcher and 90% of the Libtards aboard here loath her. Heh...what does that say for the 'represenetive sample' eh?
Perhaps that we actually lived under her rule and experienced the reality of it, unlike all the fools in the US who swallowed the usual right-wing-biased media line - and now you think you know more about Thatcher than we do.

Just keep on ignoring reality BoonMee, you are obviously very good at it.

I think there is little doubt to be honest that mccain is a person of great personal strength and integrity. That being said however, I do believe he would be a very poor choice for two reasons.

Firstly he is rash. I saw the interview with that church guy (both barak and mccain). McCain pretty much answered evrything immediately. one question in particular stuck in my mind, which was along the lines of "What do you do with evil" - an there were three choices (can't recall exactly) - Mccain without hesitation answered "destroy it" (one of the choices), and I think that was tyical mccain - answer first - and maybe think after - even along the lines of - who is it that is categorizing this event as "evil". There are very, very few issues in the world that a pure black and white, good and evil and a leader of a country as powerful as america cannot rashly decide something without first considering, at the least, who is setting the agenda.

Couple that with a very well known bad temper (point two), and you have some one who really, really should not have their finger on the button.

His running partner also scares me. She strikes me as someone who would not change their mind come hell or high water. Deeply religious people (of whatever stripe) are capable of great damage when in power, and god forbid (to use a phrase) that she ever takes over as number one (a real possibility).

On the other side, I agree that much of what Obama offers lacks substance. However, that being said, I think he is the type of guy to think things through rather than rush in. maybe even talk to people and find solutions to problems that don't involve the American army invading countries.

All in all, I would feel safer with Obamas finger on the button that Mccains.

Respect? Integrity? I've looked them up, what dictionary are you using?

This thread was never intended to be another Brit v Yank slagfest. It's about McCain (just one guy) and what it means to be a hero.

I don't think attacking ground forces from the relative safety of a jet bomber makes you a hero. Getting shot down doesn't make you a hero. Withstanding torture over an extended period doesn't make you a hero either, because if it did, Guantanamo would be producing loads of, er, Muslim heroes.

But if you google mccain hero you get 6.3 million hits. Anyway, carry on with the slagfest, if you must.

By the way, thanks to Texpat for showing us that we can now say cunts on TD. Nice to know.

Yanks also like to say how they suffer.

    "I suffer from hayfever"

    "I suffer from ingrown toenails"

I always thought suffering was something people did when they had no food or water for weeks on end.

Benbaa, McCain always says his compadres in arms are his heroes; of course his party is going to put him on the pedestal for that. And frankly, who do the Americans want in office? An intelligent elitist like Obama (kind of like the super intelligent UK PM Brown who has been in office for what three months and is ready to be tossed out by his own party already?) who hopes to schmooze with enemies and get them to be best buddies with the US? Ain't gonna happen. And Americans don't need more tax raises and welfare spending.

? Oh, so no heroes have ever been captured? Kind of a strange statement there. So, heroes fly in, land their planes and give up?

Lemmeesee, you lived under her rule. I feel you shudder. And how many terms did Thatcher serve? Y'all voted her party in so who's to blame for that? Oh, the Americans?

Bladdy h*ll, Y'all gave Bush a thrashing for not responding quick enough to 9/11 or Katrina, and now McC is too quick on the draw? He can make decisions quickly based on his views and experience is how I see it. Get Obama in there and it'll be like the UN's decision-making process -- kinda like molasses in January.
