Phuket Rawai Deadly corner claims speeding Brit

    Deadly corner claims speeding Brit

RAWAI: An Englishman has died of injuries sustained in a high-speed crash on a curve on Wiset Rd early this morning.

Capt Tienchai Duangsuwan of Chalong Police identified the victim as Mark Anthony Crosby, age 43.

Mr Crosby had been drinking with his father in Rawai earlier that night, Capt Tienchai said, adding that the accident occurred after Mr Crosby drove his father to his home in Phuket City.

Tread marks on the road indicated the car he was driving skidded some 30 meters before crashing near the entrance to Vighit Bungalow Resort about 1:45 am.

“We found Mr Crosby with 3,700 baht on his person and he was wearing a diamond ring. There is a sharp curve along that section of the road that he might not have been familiar with,” Capt Tienchai said.

Phuket Ruamjai Foundation rescue workers responded to the emergency call and took Mr Crosby’s body to Vachira Phuket Hospital, and the British Embassy has been informed of the accident, the police officer added.

Yes if he was drunk then just as well he killed himself, much better than killing someone else.

Btw why don't they tell us how much money he had on him...?

^I think you probably all understand that means he actually had 8,000 or more on him and two diamond rings. BIB commissions are taken if possible.

Dont think he deserved to die but drink drivings a daft thing to do. Dodgy roads and plenty of hazards make for a fuck up somewhere along the line.

We all make mistakes here and quite often that is driving A LITTLE over the legal alcohol limit. Yes too drink drive is foolish and dangerous but I don't believe what they claim.

Cannot possibly understand how the bib can discredit him like that as I am sure they never tested his blood. That would mean investment out of their own pockets, never while my arse points to the ground.

There are many POOR/ DANGEROUS roads here that take the lives of honest and upstanding people of all nationalities and to blame this accident on some poor farang is their way of taking the blame away from themselves.

May he RIP! My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Yes I would, drunk drivers are scum.

Lucky he did not take innocent life with him as someone already pointed out.

If, as I said before, he was indeed drunk as the article points to.

I blame it on the Camry. An unseemly beast with cornering attributes of an old tugboat. Had he been in his familiar sexy British sports car with proper handling, he wouldn't have had nearly enough speed to dent the bumper.

That's not a mistake. That's a conscious choice to break the law and endanger innocent life.

No doubt but if he was drinking earlier in the evening he shouldn't have been driving, end of.

It seems many foreigners that really should know better come to Thailand and think they can do as they please and endanger the lives of others by getting pissed up and driving about, simply because they believe they are above the law and laws aren't enforced here like they are 'back home'.

^Tud, you're starting to sound a little prudish. We've all sometimes driven when we should not have. Afterwards, we realized the follies of our ways. We vowed not to repeat it. Often, we did.

    Are you superhuman?

I do not read that article as pointing to the deceased as being drunk. the article merely states that

This could quite easily have been that his father was drinking, but he was not necessarily doing so. Crap reporting I feel.

To quick here to jump to the conclusion.

Of course in Thailand a famous TV presenter driving an expensive car under the influence can mow down innocent pedestrians, flee the scene of the crime and get away with it so I can understand why many people in this country think such behaviour is acceptable.

^Just so I understand, Tud, in all your time in Thailand, you've never driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs?

I noticed that you have now used the word 'if' in your reply. You are coming across as though you only want to read what your mind wants it to read.
