The Top 7 Reasons Why Palin Was A Brilliant Choice For VP:

    1) She energizes the Right. Palin has done something that no one else has been able to do: for the first time this year, she has managed to energize the Right. How long it will last is unknown, but it's certainly been a nice change from the moping that has occurred since McCain won the nomination.
    2) She draws attacks away from McCain. In the end, most of the public will make their decision based on who's going to be President, not the VP. So, the more time the Left and the MSM spend attacking Palin, the less time they have to attack McCain. On the other hand, the Right will be attacking Obama, not Biden.

    3) Palin has particular appeal on the Pro-life issue: Palin isn't just pro-life; she talks the talk and walks the walk. She didn't consider aborting her child with Down Syndrome and when her 17 year old daughter became pregnant with a child and decided to keep it, she supported her, which stands in stark opposition to Obama who famously said, "I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."
There's a hell of a moral contrast there and it's not one that looks good for Obama.

    4) The "scandals" that have been revealed so far have been Mickey-Mouse stuff. Her husband had a drunk driving conviction 20 years ago. So? She wanted a violent thug who mistreated her sister and was a threat to her safety fired -- who wouldn't? How do those scandals compare to say, procuring land for your house in a crooked deal or spending 20 years in a racist, anti-American church? They're pretty small potatoes.

    5) The #1 charge the Left has launched at Palin, that she's inexperienced, better applies to their own candidate for President. Palin is more qualified to be the President than Barack Obama, so you just have to smile every time some liberal says, "She'll be a heartbeat away from the presidency." I mean, can't the exact same thing be said about Obama? I mean, what if something happened to Biden and we had Obama in charge and...oh wait, the "heartbeat away" candidate is on top of the Democratic ticket.

    6) She will draw Hillary voters: No, most of the ultra-left-wing NOW types probably aren't going to vote for her, but there are plenty of women in the middle who will -- and the more the Left launches misogynistic attacks at her and goes after her family, the more women will probably vote for a McCain/Palin ticket.

    7) She evens the score on change: Obama's most appealing factor isn't his policies or his resume; it's the fact that he would be the first black President. Well, now, the McCain campaign has a "first" on their ticket, too. So, it's no longer a question of whether history will be made; it's just a question of which history-making ticket will make it to the White House.

Well, it's not like RWN is the flip-side to Kos Files now is it?
Just an objective viewpoint from the Conservative side!

btw...Ms. Palin's approval ratings top 80%-- more than 60% higher than that of the Democratic Congress- Wall Street Journal.

needless to say, it's quite ironic that you can't see the hypocrisy.
What are you saying, ray? Palin daughter is pregnant. So what? Are you saying sex education would have kept her from getting pregnant? Most kids slip up while drunk or stoned. I bet she had a few beers and...opps.

Ok, tell me about Palin's 'abstinance only policies'. Gimme the outline of the ciriculum so I can see what was taught. I also want to know if it the abstinance program was part of a course which detailed all options. Who coined the term "abstinance only ploicey (ies)" for her program, some left-wing blogger?

The Reps are handling it really well.

Sure, give People an interview, coz the party wants votes from the loonie lefties, and what better place to attract their attention but a supermarket rag, even if it is lefty as well?

No other interviews coz they want the country to watch her speech. Why let the press steal their thunder; let the press do their work for a change (even if it's been pretty shoddy)? This is the best media draw ever. Crikes, nobody gives a peanut butter cookie for Obama at the mo. Has anyone asked Hilly what she thinks? Crikes, her handlers must be removing any sharp objects from her private quarters.

The dems and their press are really scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to get any traces of dirt on Gov Palin. And I don't see her going out tonight and saying she was born the daughter of coal miners and was the first in her fam to graduate from uni and then says she was in the top half of her class (all lies) and then found to have copied someone else's report verbatim for a uni exam. Oh ya, that was DEM VP nominee Biden who told all those lies and couldn't recollect -- did they vet him for senility or is he just a really big fat liar?

Poor Obama, he's trying to attack McCain with his "he just doesn't get it" push and deriding Palin for being a small town mayor (don't forget her governorship, now, BO) -- while he is in charge of a huge campaign and budget. WTF does that have to do with governance?

Anyhoo, let's see how the Gov does tonight.

Where is it written that only senators are qualified to become President?... Or where is it written that mere representatives aren't qualified, like Geraldine Ferraro of Queens?... Where is it written that governors and mayors, like Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco, are too local, too provincial?... Presidential candidates have always chosen their running mates for reasons of practical demography, not idealized democracy?. What a splendid system, we say to ourselves, that takes little-known men, tests them in high office and permits them to grow into statesmen.... Why shouldn't a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?... [T]he indispensable credential for a Woman Who [sic] is the same as for a Man Who [sic] ? one who helps the ticket. - New York Times 1984 in support of Geraldine Ferraro's vice presidential nomination

That's all fine and well but it doesn't really sit to well with the fact that one of the main points that opponents of Obama keep bringing us is his alleged 'inexperience'.

Effective with her daughter? Sometimes people slip up. They take their eye off the ball, whatever you wish to call it. Sarah's daughter slipped up. Christians can accept that.

As Noam Chomsky said 'we are all Hypocrites'.

The people who care about the fact her daughter is up the duff can care- personally I think a much bigger issue is the Ethics investication in Alaska against her, for which she has recently hired two attorneys.

^ Which is why I seldom use the word.

Butterfly - What can be done today? Obama could practice what he preaches. His favorite quote from the bible he likes to pull out to call for more government programs, whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.”, he could apply that to himself and send his brothers and sisters living in tin shacks in Africa some money to improve their lives. He could sponsor them to come to the USA, but he doesn't. How could there be a greater hypocrite? His family languishes, while he quotes the bible to justify big government laying guilt on the American public.

Palin says love affair story 'a vicious lie

Whoa Baby, things just got hotter!!
The venerable National Enquirer has been digging some dirt.
True or false? No idea. They were right about Edwards, but then again most of their alien landing stories remain untrue.

"The McCain campaign has vigorously denied a report in the National Enquirer magazine that the Republican's vice-presidential pick, Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin has had an extramarital affair with her husband's business partner.

The story, which appeared just hours before Governor Palin was due to address the Republican convention, was branded " scurrilous" by the chief strategist, Steve Schmidt. He said it was totally untrue.

"The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov. Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie," said Mr Schmidt.

"The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it."

It follows revelations earlier in the week that Ms Palin's 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was five months pregnant and planned top marry the father Levi Johnston and have the baby.

Ms Palin is expected to castigate the media in her speech at 12.30pm Eastern Australian time.

The magazine has a reputation for digging dirt on politicians lives.
It insisted that Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards was having an extramarital affair and had had a child with his lover, while his wife was ill with breast cancer.

The allegations were denied for months until the National Enquirer finally got pictures of the duo meeting in a hotel in Los Angeles."

This puts the cat amongst the pigeons.

I agree entirely with what Sarah Palin said when interviewed by a British magazine less than one year ago- but I wonder what our resident GOP Party Faithful will make of this?

Not to mention the 'rich white boys' of the Republican party. :-

"In fact, according to Sarah Palin, the Republicans are dominated by "good old rich white boys" and their candidates should better reflect modern America.

Less than 12 months have passed and the candid and somewhat mysterious Mrs Palin's advice has been heeded: the good old rich white boys plucked her from the wilds of Alaska and she is on the podium beside presidential candidate John McCain.

Mrs Palin's words form part of a frank interview published not in Washington but in the London magazine Monocle last year. The piece was commissioned by Tyler Brule, the editor-in-chief and founder of Wallpaper*, known for its prescient ability to pick trends.

Writer David Usborne had travelled to Governor Palin's Wasilla home just outside Anchorage last September to chase persistent rumours that the corruption-busting, crusading Alaskan governor might be hand-picked by then presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani.

She was having none of it: "I think it is so far in outer space, the possibility that he would ever want a hockey mum from Wasilla to be his running mate, that I haven't considered it. I think the obligation that I have here is to serve my four-year term as a governor of Alaska. That's the deal that I struck with voters. There is much more that Alaska can do to contribute to the US and I think I can help it do that as governor," she said.

Asked about the idea of an Obama-Hillary ticket, Mrs Palin says: "That's diversity right there, isn't it? Wow! And who do the Republicans have? Good old rich white boys. I think that's another factor that has to be considered by Republicans, that in some way their candidates are a reflection of more politics as usual. Not to slam good old rich boys, but it sure wouldn't hurt for a new energy and new perspective to be enveloped by the party."

She said her anti-corruption work in Alaska had created enemies from within: "There is little love lost between me and the state party, sure, I have lost the support of the party establishment here and I don't think they [the national party leadership] are getting a whole lot of good news reported to them about me. But with the revelations that are now coming out from the FBI, we have been able to explain a lot to the public about the criticism that I and some of my actions have received."

No different than Sarah. Give her some credit.

"Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."

In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will."

Palin asked the students to pray for the troops in Iraq, and noted that her eldest son, Track, was expected to be deployed there.

"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."

what is it with American people and God?

like if the Green Bay packers win the superbowl, they say it was God's will and stuff.

wouldn't hear that after the FA Cup final or the Six Nations.

certainly such a proclamation would render a politician unelectable on grounds of mental psychosis.

    Good question by CMN.

    Culture, I suppose.

Many Americans (that I know at least) are not religious.

But in politics these politicians where their religion on their sleeve - this is not done in Europe.

Lot of Evangelicals in the Midwest of America - Evangelicals are born again Xtians.

Also in the USA, there are many preachers and pastors that are on the radio and TV, and make millions of dollars.

    Strange lot.
