Anyhoo, I love this German Obama doll. It reminds me of Aunt Jemima's brother with a flag lapel pin.

of course it's still quite early, but if the election were held today, obama would win for any number of reasons, including:

    1. he has a vision for the future of america that isn't tied to the politics of fear
    2. he's a smart and capable leader
    3. he's not a 70 year old man
    4. bush/cheney have practically destroyed the republican brand

Did not vote in this poll, but unless something rather big happens between now and Nov, I think Obama will win. I want McCain to win, but the combination of Obama’s charm and the damage done by the Bush/Cheney duo will make it quite difficult for McCain to win out in November.

But there is still alot of time left and anything can happen. Who knows GW could fire up another war somewhere else. Maybe instead of offshore drilling around the US he'll just invade Venezuela.

Am I correct in understanding that this is a survey as to whom we think is going to be the next pres of the US not whom we want to be pres or whom we are planning on voting for. There is a distinct difference.

He's not just running for President - he will be the leader of the free world.

200K people in Berlin listening to him. Crazy but it shows that a vast vast majority of the people of the free world want this guy to be the leader.

Sadly, the world wants a snazzy new leader. Euro folks like socialist types and hey, BO is cute and he is trained in attracting the masses.
But why change world opinion? Kowtow to other countries at the risk of US interests? I heard his speeches over there, emphasising US stuff comes first. Dunno, think he is a consummate actor.

    And the alternative is..?

I get the feeling that Americans are the ones that want a new leader.
It's about time they woke up.

Then, with that understandiing, I submit that BO will win and after not too long of a time period, the US public will realize the huge error in their judgement and be sorry that what they wished for came to fruition. It will be a long 4 years I'm sorry to say...

    " Why Obama will Win"

If this is an opinion poll of TD members, why title the topic this way?

^ The title may be a joke, as McCain is tightening in the polls in key battleground states. Apparently, according to the analysts (if they're accurate) The Independents are still in play. We'll have to wait and see. Lot of time left (in politics).

I suppose this must represent progress of a sort but like a battery driven toy whose direction is determined by the force of the impact upon the wall, one can never be sure where it may lead.

Come on Britvic, go for a paragraph and let's see you cookin'.

Obama is Kennedy without the cream. Shaken or stirred but black as it comes and the message is clear: after the wilderness years the septics have a new messiah and that is the message. Change for change sake without any substance is already on the ticket and therefore irresistable.

    But who cares?

Probably the Gitmo concentration camp inmates which suggests a start.

^ Theres a case to be made that this is a good bet actually. It's well enough known that the rest of the World do not want another unpopular Republican admin, so a fair amount of the overseas betting will be driven by the Heart rather than the Head.

    But I've made my call.

I agree with SEA T and theGent. BO looks pretty and has the presidential aplomb down pat to wow foreign leaders (oh, he was so cute in Israel). But, Americans have to decide who will be their leader. Who cares about TR of W. It's not their country. Puff ball or the old guy. Thinking Americans on the left and independents are really starting to question this star guy.

Oh, I must add this. Did a report last week on a utility co based in Chicago, BO's home town. Yep, those Democratic champions there are sucking companies dry. This utilities firm is buying at 12 cents and forced to sell at 2 cents to them poor welfare black folks coz the regulators say so. These guys are backing BO. Yum yum, god bless America.
