I would like to attend, however i fly out to KL on the 6th and will not be back in Bangkok for a month or 2 if all goes to plan.
Nice idea though Timba, i will call in to the new place once i get back in to town though.
That sounds like a great idea, a chance to make a few friends and have a nice time. Sorry to say I'll still be in England then though, so maybe another time. Hope it all goes well.![]()
Bring anyone you'd like. This will probably end up being a "farang party" with some non td'rs as well.Originally Posted by Butterfly

Everyone is welcome but there are only 36 spots available. Happy birthday, I'll try a cake. No rotisserie but I have a huge salamander and some skewers, we can make it work. We can set up a rack in the stone oven too.Originally Posted by CSFFan

Me and the wife will be there, I'm just looking forward to eating your food. Steak is good for me, i don't mind, what ever! Sorry for a crap input regarding food. Your menu always look just perfect for me.

Ok, the family will be there.
Now what are we eating. The daughter wants....
Please say no. Only certain things are on the menu.
Now exactly what is on the menu?
BTW, you can have bread & water and some of these boneheads will still gripe...![]()

I'll go if I can sit with Hillbilly (as long as he protects me from his missus).

The map is a great reference , can you give the written address and easiest way to get there from the SkyTrain or MRT.
Menu Options ?
Courses ?
^Saphan Kwai BTS station is marked on the map, it is just a 20 baht motorcycle ride from there.
^Know the area well, used to have a great mia noi, who had an apartment just up the road about 3 years ago... The Tuk Tuks at the station are great 7-10 baht anywhere in the immediate area (5-10mins travel). Have to speak some Thai though, or have an address in Thai.
7-10 baht for a tuk tuk - what are you on?Originally Posted by bkkandrew

Think I will be sitting this one out Timba. Good luck with the dinner though. Can you make it Bkk?![]()
^^Believe me, away from the Lower Sukhumvit and Silom 'Green Zones' things are still cheap.
Simple as, they line up at the bottom of the steps and, if they can avoid a right turn (IIRC) its B7 and B10 otherwise, which is what I used to pay every day to MN's flat.
They just haven't gained the greedy habits of the cnuts around Soi Cowboy as of yet...
I've never met a tuk tuk anywhere in BKK that has told me a fare would be 7 Baht. You must be haggling yourself into a frenzy.
^No, it was B10 and the (then) mia noi told me what to expect...
I simply told him where to go and paid B10 on arrival. Did the same every day for a year. Haven't done the trip since breaking off with her, but, as another example, the motorcycle taxi set-rate from On Nut station to present MN's abode (about 5 minutes) is also B7.
Try not to quantify everything from a Lower Sukhumvit / Silom viewpoint...
Try not to imagine we all live in lower Sukhumvit Andrew, I believe I live about 2 minutes distance from your condo in fact.
Just never heard of a tuk tuk charging 7 baht before. I've known motor bike taxis charge 7-8 bahts, but never a tuk tuk.
I would love to see you try to take a tuk tuk somewhere in Ratchada for 7 baht.
In fact, if you can get a tuk tuk to take you down a soi, at first price 7 baht, I will pay the fare for you myself. Can't say fairer than that can I Mr. 'I'm so native'.
^Forgot you lived a stone's throw from me.
Anyway, you are right, I wouldn't take a tuk tuk in Ratchada sooner than dive into a klong, but Saphan Kwai was a totally different kettle of fish. The tuk tuks were the norm, rather than motorcycles and from Ari station (next one up) to Intermeras Soi 11 (MN's flat) they were the price stated (B10).
Anyway, if you were coming (and we are setting off from the same start point), we could have some sort of bizarre 'Lowest cost to Timba's competition'! Or not...![]()
I'd win because I'm not too lazy to walk there.
Tuk Tuks indeed! Bloody tourists...
![]()
I'll give you a piggy back for 7 baht though.
