I never recall such attention being paid to a potential first lady. Nancy Reagan carried plenty of baggage y'know, these days she'd be called a groupie or a casting couch dollie. Yet she seemed to be accepted as first lady, and her husband idolised by modern day Republicans.
As best I can see, the only baggage Michelle carries is that she is Black and educationally accomplished.
