^ Nah. Do you have anything with a distinctively ethnic American look about it?
Obama is now calling Bloggers Liars for accurately reporting his words. One doesn't have to wear a flag pin to be patriotic but what is interesting is his answers. eh? And, he states he 'sometimes wears one'. Any photographic proof of that?
Obama on his refusal to wear a flag pin, now:Obama then referred to the time last October, when a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, TV reporter asked him why he didn’t wear a flag pin.Barack Obama on his refusal to wear a flag pin, then:
“Then I was asked about this in Iowa,” Obama said. “And somebody said ‘Why don’t you wear a flag pin?’ I said, well, sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I said, although I will say that sometimes I notice that they’re people who wear flag pins but they don’t always act patriotic. And I was specifically referring to politicians, not individuals who wear flag pins, but politicians who you see wearing flag pins and then vote against funding for veterans, saying we can’t afford it.”(What Obama said last October was: “You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest. Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”)
Political Punch
A Deplorable Bitter Clinger
^^I prefer the "then" version.
the bloggers are obsessed with 1. obama's pastor, 2. a guy who served of the board of directors for some charity with him, and 3. whether or not he wears a flag pin.
good luck.
americans are worried about the economy (which john mccain has admitted he doesn't know anything about) and iraq (where john mccain has said he'd keep troops for the next hundred years.
when obama wins the nomination, it'll be a cake walk in november.
if clinton somehow takes it away from him, it'll be harder for her to win in november, but i still think she'll get it done.
Wrong thread there ray - jokes section perhaps?
More likely the voters will have had a bellyfull of Obama's lack of experience, associations with shady folks and his overbearing arrogance by November. At any rate, Denver will be interesting. Perhaps we'll be treated to another Chicago-esq liberal dementia again?
Heh...![]()
Oh yeah, didn't that shining example of Republican values, Limbaugh, call for riots in Denver to sway public opinion to further his favoured party?
the DNC has a great spot on the 100 years remark that is going to start airing shortly....once it's on youtube, i'll post it here.
thanks for keeping up on the typos....i knew there had to be a reason you were here...it's certainly not for your political acumen.Originally Posted by Texpat

Fact checking the BO/Ayers connection gets more interesting!
It seems his cover-up of just what he was doing on that 'Board' with the unrepentant bomber, Ayers, is proving to be more grist for the mill!

Heh...BO's pathetic attempt to distance himself from Wright in the press conference he gave today - "Outraged" he was!
What makes this latest episode so snort-worthy is that it’s simply unbelievable that he did not know about Wright’s views until yesterday.
To give just one example out of many: Wright traveled to Libya with Louis Farrakhan and met Muammar Gaddafi. Are we supposed to believe that BO never even heard of it?![]()
^ Frankly, are we supposed to care?
In the rarefied world of the Right Wing Blogosphere, some Pastors comments assume a greater importance than-
the needless deaths of around 1 milion people in Iraq,
the botched operation to find bin Laden,
than the collapse of the USD,
than high level corporate political and business corruption and cronyism,
than the indebted US government,
than the sub Prime and real estate collapse that is hitting real people right now.
And so on. The republicans have had eight years to stuff up the US, and have succeeded. I think the people of the US are looking for solutions to the mess. The republican blogosphere responds by devoting more hysteria to some Pastor, or where Barack went to school, and totally ignores the real issues.
Doesn't bode well for your presidential contender. As I've already noted, the smell of your fear and panic is tangible. don't worry boys- it won't be that bad, life goes on and all that. You've managed to survive 8 years of the Bush administration.
America, I believe, is looking forward to a change of government.
Absolutely, if you want a POTUS who is a 'uniter' vs. the 'divider' BO appears to be. All those points you listed, sabang, are extremely important issues that need to be addressed but before we can, the trust has to be there and frankly, BO has turned off a very large segment of the voting public.

Well, Obama threw Wright off the bus, and then ran over him a few times today.
Democrat Obama "outraged" by former pastor
WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Reuters) - Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, trying to quell a political firestorm that has roiled his presidential campaign, strongly denounced his former pastor on Tuesday and called his racially charged comments "appalling."Democrat Obama "outraged" by former pastor - Yahoo! News"I cannot prevent him from continuing to make these outrageous remarks, but what I do want him to be very clear about...is that when I say I find these comments appalling, I mean it. It contradicts everything that I'm about and who I am."
Wright's comments have undercut the campaign of Obama, the son of a white mother and a black father who has based his presidential candidacy on a promise to unite the country after years of sharp political and racial divisions.
they are afraid of obama, that much is plainly obvious.Originally Posted by sabang

by and large americans aren't really that discerning.. this is why mcdonalds, chuck norris movies and britney spears are so popular. and this is not a slam on americans, because i believe the citizens of most countries are the same way...they really don't take the time to think about what they're consuming (whether it be food, entertainment, or news), they just suck it in without wondering if it's toxic.
that said, i still support him and hope he will win....but i fear they've successfully tarred him with this disgraceful character assasination.
haven't you been clamoring for just this very thing for the last month?Originally Posted by chinthee

^Norton, yes he did finally do the thing I've been advocating for a long time. It was the smart thing to do. Evidently, according to some TV reports, this all relates back to the day Obama first made his announcement, and Wright, as his personal advisor at the time, was at his side in the basement, and assumed he would be invited on stage with Obama. Obama's campaign managers insisted he not go on stage with Obama. In retrospect, that was a VERY wise decision. Reportedly, Wright felt terribly slighted by that as he thought he had deserved the right to be on stage with Obama.
Obama is going to have trouble distancing himself from this guy now.
Some wiseass once said a week is a long time in politics.
And the ramifications of human behavioural psychology are about as complex as predicting the weather.
Wright, unwittingly it seems, has done a big favour to Obama by his latest bile. Obama has made a clean break- and either he genuinely meant it, or he's such a good actor he leaves Pres Raygun for dead. These days, it doesn't matter in Politics.
Too little, too late? Ultimately we're all guessing, and you needn't bother putting your best guess here really- it will only be a function of whom you want to win.
The electoral camjpaign is of course about to change, to the Home stretch- the actual election. Of the three left standing, only Hillary was even mentioned as a serious contender about six months ago.
You know who I want to win, but that means nothing. No contender can be written off at this stage. It may be the case that Obamas 'ordeal by fire' will prove to be the right thing at the right time, in retrospect. Both him and Hillary are more concerned about the Dem nomination than McCain at this stage. That, of course, will change quite soon.
