    Obama is black, Ray, black.

He hates his white mother and thinks middle America consists of bible-thumping gun-nuts. The guy is no Christian, he learned to hate in the Islamist school he went to.
And he's the lapdog of that riot-inciting racist Wright.

It's mentioned all over this thread and others.

You do the maths where allegiance of a guy who refused to wear a flagpin lies when push comes to shove.

His voting record and bills he initiated? Who cares, we've seen enough.

He's an Islamo-fascist come black racist communist mole, a nobody who went through university and rose to prominence only because of the PC guilt complex of the Libs!

Just reminding everybody of the facts.
They are White, not Black, and they are not racist.

    ...unlike Obama.
Racism is endemic amongst Blacks, you would have to live there to understand. Rev. Wright, you know.

Black voters can neither propel Obama to the Democratic nomination nor put him in the White House.

Until now, if EVERY eligible black voter (12 or 13%) voted for Obama, he'd still need 40 percent of the non-black vote to get to where he is today. Real turnout of black voters is more likely 7 or 8 percent which means a very large chunk of white and Hispanic Democratic voters are voting for Obama. Also remember the Clintons were viewed very favorably by black voters so the percentages are likely smaller yet.

A large majority of blacks are going to vote Democratic in the general election, so ultimately the race issue doesn't mean that much in this election. McCain isn't going to get much of the black vote no matter who he faces. But Obama will continue to rely on white voters. He can do nothing without them.

Roughly 75% of Pa. blacks voted for Obama. Roughly 50% of Pa. whites voted for Hillary. If you insist on banding about the term racist, seems the whites can cross the color divide in this instance easier than the blacks. Same for Iowa, New Hampshire and virtually all the other states. I don't have a link, but current delagate counts compared to US demographics bear this out.

Does it make a difference among Americans what color the candidate is?
Yep. And it always will. Just as religion, age, gender ...

^ Thems fair ponts Tex. While Obama undoubtably has the black vote strongly behind him, thats almost a given. It will not be the deciding factor in the election.

More importantly, his following amongst white collar, educated Democrats and non- party aligned folk is very strong. Moderates if you like- a number of the voters he is attracting are not one party voters, they might vote GOP under different circumstances.

His following amongst blue collar Democrats and the Unionised vote is weaker. Maybe run Edwards on the ticket as VP? He's very strong in this sector.

^ & ^^ I agree, Tex and Sabang. It appears many black women are still siding with Hilly. Hispanics, too. What about the Asians?
The news stations are finally addressing the racism issue, especially now that Wright has refired his personal crusade. His speech at the NAACP mtg where he noted that black children are attacked for their manner of speaking and then parodied JFK: "Yeesk not what your country... What is 'yeesk'," Wright shouted and then said that nobody criticised JFK for his way of speaking.
It is an issue. Just because we call it an issue does not mean we are racist; it means we are attuned to the colour divide in the US, and if you think it does not exist, then you do not know America.
Them thar white honky news stations should have been tuned into TD 4-5 months ago when we started talking about it. Mind, they might have been scared to talk about it before, knowing that all of Ray Carey's extended family would be outside waiting for the anchors so they could shoot them.

Nope, coz it's an issue in dis here race for the nominations for electing the next president of the United States of America. If you cannot understand this you are not only colour blind, you are blind. You want to label these journalists racist, too, Ray?

"...in states with sizable black and white populations living together in industrial cities, such as Ohio and Pennsylvania, Mr. Obama loses, because too many working class whites won't vote for a black man.
...The results in Pennsylvania suggest there is at least some truth in this sad hypothesis.
Exit polls from Tuesday's primaries show that 90 per cent of blacks but only 37 per cent of whites voted for Mr. Obama.
Even more ominous, about one-fifth of those who voted said race was a factor in this election, and about 40 per cent of those voters said they would not vote for Mr. Obama if he won the nomination."
globeandmail.com: Are Rust Belt race relations working against Obama?

Below link, please scroll to the vid "Do Americans factor race into their vote?" Includes some of Moyers pandying interview with Wright on PBS. I like the black journalist who bluntly says that people are scared of bringing up "racism" but it is there. The Brit Newsweek guy's poll comments are off the mark IMO.

loosely translated into 20% of American adults are racist.

^ Read the news file, CMN. The writer said many folks polled at the exits may have been lying so as not to look racist. It's just like the PC culture -- folks says one thing in public, but it's the opposite around the kitchen table.

no it doesn't but how you've attempted to frame the debate does. it is a gross understatement to say you are attuned to 'the color divide' when from your posts, it's clear that it is your obsession.

for some reason you seem unable to discern the difference between what is written in those articles and your hate filled perspective on race. the articles are stating that racists aren't going to vote for obama...not that obama and his wife are racist....this is what you believe, isn't it?

I'm inclined to say I'd be in that 20% for whom race is an issue.

you see, I'd vote for Obama simply because he is black, that and he's a democrat.

Race is an issue...full stop. I don't have the slightest doubt it is as can be seen here and across the US. Obama receiving 90% of the black vote can only be explained because he is black. Hard to say what proportion of the 63% of whites did not vote for him but certainly many did not because he is black. We do know many white women voted for Hillary because she is a woman.

I have never argued race will not be a factor in the results because to do so would ingnore the fact many will vote against Obama no matter the alternative because he is half "black". I don't know how anyone who who votes for or against someone because of color can argue they are not racist. Racism is alive and well in the world and will remain so even if Obama should end up with the Presidency.

Well being here in the states and in the Texas area I am concerned with the general public and how angry everyone is getting about the whole issue. Its support their candidate or you should be shot attitude that everyone has! And that seems to be coming from all sides and races.
Makes me wonder is I should start practicing the old "Duck and Cover" drills for when election day rolls around. Just to be on the safe side...

I am right on the fence on who I want to see as the next president. And I most likey will be till the day I am standing the old voting booth. I try to listen to all sides and find things I like but it always comes around to me that is is choosing the lesser of evils. And that scares the hell out of me.

I'm surprised the number is so high. 20%? America is the most PC country in the world. It's one of the reasons I left. However, you go into the middle of the country and it's another world - they even fly the confederate flag in some states. Go out there and you'll meet people whom you may see as racist or bigots, but it's just that the PC bullshit of the coasts haven't infiltrated them yet. If you're on tv, everything you fucking say is analyzed to death. If you unintentionally insult a race (even if it's very very slight), say goodbye to your career.

I remember 8 years ago Bush (or maybe it was Perot) was in Mexico or South America and he was giving a speech to the people there, and he said the phrase "You people...." instead of the current PC term (which changes on a daily basis). He was crucified by the news media.

I'm from California, the capital of the PC world, and I'd vote for Obama. Not because he's black, but because he isn't Hillary or McCain.
