    Pattayas cheapest Pizza Slices

Time to try some of 7/11s more exotic meals, yep, the 30baht pizza slices, this one is The Hawaii Pizza, not sure what was on it as it really didn't taste of anything noticeable, just a gungy mess on top of some gungy dough, the worrying thing is that they have a 10 day shelf life in the fridge, how they manage to make it last so long I don't really like to think about, I couldn't imagine buying a pizza and sticking the leftovers in the fridge for 9 days and then zapping it in the microwave

I think they're the current owners and that is not his mum.

Try talking to that "thug", you'll find that he's indeed a nice normal bloke.

Well 7/11 reaches new lows with their sandwichies, never have I had a sandwich taste so digusting, in the shop it says 22 baht, the gits charged me 31 baht, no idea of the correct price but this is the sort of thing to buy people that you hate.

I used to have a bit of a weakness for 711 microwaved Dim Sum- quite popular in HK. You however are succesfully turning me off 711 food DD, for which my GP would certainly thank you if I had one.

For a truly dire, never to return eating experience, do try one of those 711 sandwiches filled with some sickly sweet icky stuff with a colour like babies poo. You'll be glad you didn't.

They are also now doing toasted sandwiches, I have never really been into toasted sandwiches but I believe it could be a new low for me
Also the sandwich above they had cut the crust off, why do Thais do that? I mean I am well 'ard, I even eat the seeds in tomatos, so whats this obsession with cutting the edges off of the bread.

Something very very wrong with this picture.....well with this whole thread really.

^^^^ Dirty Dog I think they cut the crusts off cos crusts make your hair curl. Imagine how much of a fit all the hairdressers in thailand would have if everybody had curly hair, they don't cope when i roll into town. Therefore i think it is a conspiracy by the Thai Barbers Association

Righto it's a date then. The 18 baht wieners clearly look better on that side of the gulf.

And the indian restaurant just down the street from you is one of the better ones I've encountered in Thailand outside of bkk.

    Thai Mexican snacks from 7/11

Ok I admit I cheated on this one a little bit, I made my own pickled jalapenos and they were damn good and it works out really cheap, you can see how here. Anyway, a can of tuna at your local 7/11 is about 40baht and you to could end up with a wonderfull dish like this.

My home made jalapeno and a tin of tuna.

Now this looks good doesn't it, also got rid of the dolphin taste

I admit that 7/11 doesn't sell danitos, but the supermarket that does is only 100 meters away, yet another nice cheap snack

Squid is a very good bargain, always much cheaper than any other seafood and easy to eat as there are no bones to get stuck in your teeth, just meat. I even enjoy the dried squid hanging on the snack carts though I prefer to find one that has the steel grinding wheels on it to run the squid through to tenderize it. Only a minority of the vendors seem to do this and it really improves the tough nature of dried squid meat. Fresh stir fried squid however seems to contain none of that stringyness and melts in your mouth.

    Pattaya chicken steak burger

So it was back down to the 7/11 on Soi Thepprasit this afternoon to try some more of their fine dishes, actually this wasn't too bad, it's the chicken steak burger, only 33baht, it actually tasted like it had been bbq ued and also had black bits on it like what happens when you get a bit messy whilst bbqing, you have to be careful though as they leave the chicken skin on, they have the chicken skin at the bottom, probably trying to hide it from me, I wasn't born yesterday and the dog enjoyed it

if you have been in a thai bakery you will see why the bread and rolls are crap, they tip the sugar in by the truckload.
the only thing i miss about living in malaysia is their good bread.

^I was talking to someone bout this stuff only last week i'd never heard of it before,

A large fennel-like plant that grows mainly in Iran and India. The powdered gum resin of the asafetida imparts a very strong onion-garlic flavor and is used in small quantities to Indian dishes. This spice is not known much outside India. The taste is bitter and acrid; however, when fried lightly, it adds wonderful aroma and taste. In the spring, when the plant is about to bloom, the stems and roots are cut, and the milky resin is scraped off. The gummy resin is sun-dried into a solid mass that is sold in solid, wax-like pieces. Most raw asafetida is sent to India for further processing and sale, mostly in powdered form.
    Ethnicity: Indian Ingredient
    Season: available year-round
How to select: Powder or lump form in Indian markets.
How to store: Store in a dry, cool cabinet, in an airtight jar and out of direct light for several months up to a year. A fresh lump of asafetida will keep for several years.
Substitutions: garlic powder or onion powder

    From Wiki,

Asafoetida - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Well, luckily I didn't have any tortoises on me at the time...

    Jomtien Cheese rolls with jalapeno

Got to admit I have punished myself enough with 7/11 crap, so it was down to a more farang friendly supermarket in Jomtien, a pack of Processed Kraft cheddar cheese is 120baht, the pickled jalapenos I made myself and I am quite proud of them, the bread rolls are less than 10 baht each, so it's a bargain
