| Well, this is interesting. Michelle Obama is appearing tonight on the Colbert Report, while at the same time, Hilary is appearing on Thursday night. During all this, Barak has refused invitations to appear. Generally, appearing on the Comedy Central program has greatly helped candidates.
So, what to make of this? My take is that Obama is too clever to appear himself and subject himself to further blue collar scrutiny, but at the same time sees the need for his wife to "lighten up" her image. It think it's a winning strategy.
Meanwhile, Hilary will likely bomb on the show. She is stiff, hasn't a comedic bone in her body (apart from Bill's - ok cheap shot), but seriously, she will not come off as "cool" or tuned in on this important venue.
Advantage: Obama.
So, what do women think of Hilary? Many of us supported her early on, but as she has revealed, she has no affinity with women's values so much as personal ambition. Michelle might prove to be the woman's champion in the end, even if she does first favor black women. |
