The Dems will get the Obama vs Clinton issue sorted with Obama emerging as their candidate. Obama will defeat McCain. McCain's stance of continuing and probable expansion of troop strength is in direct conflict with the majority of voters whom indicate a 60% disapproval of the war. Hard as he may try, he will not be able to distance himself from his albatross GWB. GWB's approval rating and an indicator of sentiment towards the Republicans is below 30%! The economy will be a big issue but the Dems have a more populist message and while I don't agree with it, it resonates with the electorate. The biggest obstacle to McCain winning is simply mathematics. The enthusiasm and Dem voter turnout generated by Obama ensures the Dems will by far outnumber Republicans in the general election and I doubt there will be many voting republican. The upside for McCain is he has no worries about his issues with right wing conservatives as I doubt even given their current "dislike" for McCain they certainly will not vote for Osama.
