ELF and "Street of Dream" Homes

Eco-terrorism or sending a message? Massive urban sprawl continues. The average size of the American family is declining, but the avg. square foot per house has increased dramatically. Are these big homes wasteful and inneficient, or simply expressing the right to live how one wants?

Officials are blaming "domestic terrorism" for fires early today that destroyed three multi-million-dollar homes and damaged a fourth which were built as part of last year's Seattle Street of Dreams in the Maltby area of Snohomish County.
Damage was estimated at $7 million.

Early reports indicated that explosive devices were found inside the homes. And nearby, a spray-painted sign bearing the initials of the Earth Liberation Front, challenged builders' assertion that the homes featured environmentally responsible construction methods.

A KING-5 video showed the sign, which read: "Built Green? Nope black! McMansions in RCDs r not green. ELF" The initials "RCD" refers to "rural cluster development."
Investigators are looking at the possibility that attempts were made to start a fifth house on fire.

Issue for me is the right to live how one wants is only justifiable if it doesn't infringe on the right of others to do the same. In this case, the global shortage of energy makes wasteful and inefficient behavior irresponsible.

So you'll be turning in you fuel-inefficient, personally-owned truck, in favor of mass transportation then? Baht busses are far more efficient.

And your neighbors scoff at your liberal use of air conditioning. That's gotta go too. Do you realize how inefficient and wasteful you are?

In fact, you should supplement your less-wealthy neighbors with a large fraction of your monthly income to make everything more fair.

Not sure owning a truck that gets comparatively good fuel inefficiency is considered wasteful and inefficient but concede, public transportation is much more efficient. I suppose walking even more so!

Not an issue for me. I seldom turn it on. Has to be extremely hot. Sides, the neighbors have 4 or 5 fans groaning away due to the gunk inside the motor when it gets very hot. Wonder which is more energy efficient!

    Already a common practice.
