| as i posted ten days ago, this is a non story. it would be very interesting to know how many people have signed on the dotted line in the berkeley recruiting office over the last few years.
the city council is also to blame, because they should have just left well enough alone. if the recruiting center had moved to some place like oakland (or another socio-economically disadvantaged area) they might have actually suckered some kids into signing up. by and large the people in berkeley are too intelligent and too wealthy to join the military.
also, perhaps foxnews and the right wing talk radio hosts that manufactured this 'scandal' (and enraged the rubes on this forum) should direct their outrage at the fact that most likely there are more former marines living on the streets and under bridges than will ever sign up at the berkeley recruiting office.
