this is nothing but regurgitated, sensationalistic propaganda which was originally devised to encourage working americans to vote against their own best interests.

as the country spirals into recession, the populist themes being put forth by edwards will resonate. he most likely won't get the nomination, but he will likely be 'king maker' at the convention.

Yep, things were so much cheaper in Clinton's era. Well, we don't live in that era and prices have increased for everything, or do you still pay the same amount for a quart of milk that you did in 2000?

The table with the 2000 and 2003 info based on 2003 dollars is another scam. How about basing it on 2000 dollar values?
If the poor receive insufficient educational assistance/job training, if the middle classes get no tax breaks and if wages stay flat then there is little or no benefit to those classes. Not really fair since American workers are now among the most productive in the world.

The people crying for the biggest government handouts these days are US bond insurers Ambac, MBIA, etc... who are spiraling into bankruptcy. Corporate welfare here we come. American taxpayers, hold onto your wallets.

Getting back to the topic of this thread, America's corporate media continues to steer the public toward their approved candidates. When John ("100 more years in Iraq") McCain had a few good debates, he was all of a sudden portrayed as a comeback phenom before a single primary vote was cast. No such treatment in the press for populist John Edwards, who has also shined in recent debates. In the past week, Ron Paul came in 3rd in the Nevada caucus and 2nd in Louisiana. These results were barely reported.

Welfare in the USA goes to corporations, and the military is a socialist welfare program that works on behalf of economic interests.

Julie Annie is tied for 3rd place in the Florida Primary for Jan. 29th.

Guliani and Huckabee will both fade, IMO. Romney and McCain will vie for the GOP nomination. Yes, it sounds like I'm parroting the article below.

And no, polling is not very reliable these days.

Rudy Giuliani has hit the skids in a Florida freefall that could shatter his presidential campaign and leave a two-man Republican contest in the state between John McCain and Mitt Romney, a Miami Herald poll shows.
Despite hovering over Florida voters for weeks, Giuliani is tied for third place with the scarcely visible Mike Huckabee in a statewide poll of 800 likely voters.

and the two strongest war proponents in each party have been declared front runners by the alleged 'liberal media'.

    We know.

We know from a thing called....the media.

Florida is next on Jan. 29th.

Clinton has a double-digit lead over Obama in FL, but I don't trust polls like I used to.

As said before, Feb. 5th, will give us a more clear picture - perhaps.

It may be longer before a nominee is known.

but since being reprimanded by the DNC for moving up their primary, FL doesn't have any delegates that cast votes at the convention .

    it's a meaningless vote.

    63-48.

but as MM keeps pointing out, it's still early and 2025 are needed for the nomination.

Thanks for the info on the no-delegates in Floriday, Ray.

You seem to be keen on Edwards.

If he fades out in a couple months do you see him as VP?

Ray, serious question: what do you think of Hillary? Not if you think she'll be the nominee, but if you like her policies and ethics.

    Caroline Kennedy endorses Obama

Sun Jan 27, 1:06 AM ET NEW YORK - The daughter of President John F. Kennedy endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, saying he could inspire Americans in the same way her father once did.

"I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them," Caroline Kennedy wrote in an op-ed posted Saturday on the Web site of The New York Times. "But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans."
This could be an important symbolic victory for Obama as it could lead to more people identifying with the young, promising and smart Presidential candidate. Kennedy is held in iconic status in American public consciousness.

^ There are no delegates in FL. They were taken away because FL moved the date up (thanks Ray).

Sorry about the sarcasm on your post, but your post was a 1 sentence post, and is definitely binnable.

Why the 1 sentence? What was the point of that post? One-liners are looked down upon here.

That's why I made my comment the way I made it.

As for JFK's daughter: who cares.

She is one voter. And her vote is just as relevant as mine.

It's not just one voter with JFK's daughter - she commands or should say symbolizes a 'brand' that some folks look up to.

Anyhow, Ted (the swimmer) Kennedy is preparing to come out in favor of Obama now too.

    Rudy: Demise rumors are 'premature'

Well, you know what they say, once the rumors start it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy as nobody wants to jump on the bandwagon of a loser. Could be the beginning of the end for Rudi.

    By David Jackson, USA TODAY
ORLANDO — Rudy Giuliani has a message for those who doubt his floundering presidential campaign can survive.
"The rumors of my demise are premature," Giuliani told USA TODAY, paraphrasing Mark Twain's famous line.
Public opinion polls here show Giuliani, who has staked his White House bid on doing well in Florida, stuck well behind John McCain and Mitt Romney in Tuesday's Republican primary.
