kinda opens up two tangible, specific ways in which you could improve your life, doesn't it (apart from dropping xanax)?

I started this thread because I had a McDonalds the other day.

It is a rare event and will only happen if options are scarce.

Options shouldn't be scarce - in a city centre or mall it is harder to get cheap healthy food than it is to get rubbish.

Some of the burgers I've had in Thailand are such crap that McDonalds tastes OK in comparison. I prefer Burger King, but might have a Mcmeal a couple of times a year.

I just wish they didn't add sugar to everything. At least you can order your Happy Meals with an orange juice (still sweet) instead of that ghastly coke.

Got to admire them as a well run company though.

Just so you know, if you haven't been to a real Mickie D's everything here is microwaved and starts out frozen after being shipped a verrrry long distance.

There is a far cry from what is the real thing in the States and where I visited in Europe too compared to what is here...

When they're fresh off the grill they taste much better, a microwaved burger will always be crap...

It's obvious isn't it. Poo hasn't had the huge marketing campaign that Macca's has. It needs to be sold to the public. A nice slogan and a smiling model wil sell more units.

    Let's do lunch...

    Let's do poo!!!

This is from the FHM UK guide to the internet:

'Without stopping to think about it, the fast food giant has built a public forum site to answer nutritionally dopey questions at Burgers - What's in the food? - McDonald's UK. The result? Thousands of folk like us posting things like: "I read in the paper that some burger contains poo, Is this really true? If so, what proprtion of burgers contain poo?" Which theyre duty-bound to answer.'

    Go nuts

Any company that would entertain questions like that doesn't have the business sense to run a som-tam stand.

Moderation is the key - having a burger once in a blue moon isn't going to hurt a normally healthy individual - and I doubt That street food is any healthier - although it tastes better.

I went through the McDonalds university, a massive area includes its own on campus hotel. Every time you went past a bust or photo of 'ol Ray everybody dropped to their knees in reverence.
It sort of reminded me of East Germany, 30 yrs ago as any implied, even slight critisism of the product or company was treated as blasphemy. No doubt its shit food but hey! most of the population are shit people and they like it. You can't go wrong catering for the trailer trash mob.

You have full and absolute control over what you stuff down your pie-hole. Nobady makes you eat anything. I don't understand the controversy. If you like it, eat it. If you don't eat something else.

The last time I went to McDonald's, I think I ordered one of these.

The last time I was in London, I think I ordered one of these.

Please remind me again which one is ruining my health.

On one of the last jobs I was on I was running a dredge and couldn't leave to get lunch as I worked thru lunch hour, 16 hours a day.
I would get a couple of sausage biskits/coffee on the way to work at 0600 and at noon had a deck hand on his lunch pick me up a couple of Big Macs/fries and a coke and bring back to me me and as I was sleeping in a motel in the town where were were dredging I would eat in a cafe or fast food for supper and at the end of six weeks I was in good health when I went back to my home in Mexico, plus the $18,000 I made in 6 weeks sure made my bank account a lot healthier too.

Heres what the OP gave me, but after 7 greens in a row for the same thread, I guess it is all in the eyes of the beholder.

I'm back in Fortune Town and to nourish myself I resorted to a Tesco's baguette and a tub of Philadelphia.

Half way through the baguette I still feel empty and the Philadelphia is sickly.

I can't remember what my point is.

When I'm in the mood, this is my Macca of choice-

Quarter pounder with cheese. Much better than faeces imo.
The French call it a Royale.

McDonald has also got it's salad range now (although they still insist upon adding silly amounts of sugar to the dressing).

They listen to their market and franchisee's. In Australia, they no longer use styrofoam packaging, for environmental reasons.

People who get fat and pimply from eating too much Macca's really only have themselves and/or their parents to blame.

Because I'm observant...Small hole in the wall quick service shops, not enough space for a real grill, and the burger comes out in 2 min or less if it wasn't already there waiting. It takes longer than that to cook any burger properly from raw even ones as thin as these..

That's how most of the places I've been to in Bangkok and Phuket are, though there are exceptions, they still use microwaves much of the time..Not to mention when they are cooking burgers the grill is below eye level but yet they are always reaching above their head where microwaves are most commonly located...

The bun is also very hot and spongy indicative of microwaved when usually they don't heat their buns at all and that's not just from radiant heat in the packaging either so no need to go there..

It is also common place to actually see the cooks flipping an occasional burger on the grill and here I have never seen it once yet. Although I'm pretty sure that the McD's I visited in Pattaya did have a real grill and I could taste the difference there too..

If you haven't eaten a burger from their place of origin (being the US) you have no empirical evidence with which to call upon... I can't pinpoint the exact difference it may be local beef as part of their contract to sell here but there is a definite difference in taste and texture over the "real thing"... In fact the burgers in the States were so tender that there was a long standing myth that they mixed in earthworms to give them their juicy, light texture and flavor.

The irony there is that if they did mix in earthworms it would probably be far more healthy for you considering the high protein factor of earthworms over even beef..

Bottom line as has been pointed out here a couple of times now it's like anything else, you should do it in moderation and put very simply, if you don't like it don't eat it!!

Unfortunately 3-5 year olds don't... and a previously stated this is who MacDonalds aim their marketing at. Of course, this has to be backed up by bad parenting, but they know they can addict young kids to junk food before they are old enough to understand. It's not just MacDonalds, but because they are the biggest they take most of the flak.

It's not amazingly unhealthy, but then again most recreational drugs aren't amazingly unhealthy unless you take too much.

I manage to eat unhealthily and I'm a vegetarian, i'd probably be dead by now if I wasn't.

    MMMmmmm, kebabs, chips....
