I had a chat with the Hong Kong manager of Convent Coyote one day while I was eating lunch shortly after they opened.

I discussed this issue with him of Thais not liking Mexican or Indian food. He agreed that they are normally reluctant to try it, but that after they do, some of them do develop a taste for it. However, it's not the same as, for example, in Hong Kong, where Hong Kong Chinese are much more open to trying any and all types of foods.

I still say it is not a myth. I've talked to a number of Thais about this. With regard to Indian food, my understanding is they often think it's dirty as well as the curries are not to their liking.

I'm sure there are exceptions, especially in Bangkok.
