In late 80's early 90's Bobbys Arms was great, used to use it every time I was there - haven't been to Bangkok for 10 years and sorry that it has gone down hill.
Was running a seminar in Bangkok in 1997 for 30 European Insurance execs and we had a Traditional English Roast dinner booked at the Duset Thani.
3 hours before we were due to get there they called and told me that as HM The King was going there to present some award or other, they had to cancel our booking .
In 3 hours Bobbys had rearranged their tables- organised live music and served up one of the best roast dinners the assorted mob of 30 people had ever had !
What a pity it has changed so much .
