Can I build a house in Thailand for 250k?

Does anyone know the size of the largest standard sized sliding glass door available in Thailand?

Height & width if possible.

3 meters by 3 meters would be about the biggest that could be done, probably break the wheels though.

You can also divide the glass panels into thirds, with two locks, if it gets too wide.

I was thinking about needing to cover a 4m span, so each panel would be 1m wide with the 2 centre panels opening and the 2 outer ones fixed. The height would be 2.70-2.80 high.

Going by DD's info, there should be no problem (except security).

Ugly as hell, just have fixed panes at the top and have the sliders about 2.20cm, there are 2 different aluminum systems that can be used, one a toddler could break into and the other which is a bit more secure and would take an adult some time to break into.

^^ I know what you mean, but I am intending to build a modern, architecturally designed house for around 250k. It will have glass 'walls' for much of the walls, hence the large sizes. I will also take a look at commercial systems used in shops, but I am concerned the price is going to be too high.

Recycled glass panels (from old office blocks, etc.) are another option, especially if I used handmade wooden frames. This is actually my favourite option as I really want a special system so I can open the glass wall fully.

It's early days yet, but I will start throwing a few ideas at my architect soon to see what we can come up with.

I suppose I'd better stop pissing my money up the wall.

You want to live in a greenhouse? I'm not sure if that's an entirely wise idea in this climate.

As long as the sun is kept off the glass, it'll be ok. Double glazed units would be preferable too, but they're not cheap or that common over here.

Edit: Their site says "Single, Double, Triple and parallel Sliding Doors offer can provide an opening up to 3.5m wide. Our Folding doors can be used where large opening spaces of up to 5m are required"

Yes, Marmite, I lived in a glass sided house in Jakarta for a while; the roof was very overhanging so the sun never made it hot

the main problem was the lack of privacy, even in an enclosed garden; the servants were always watching what we got up to! I think the maid was quite excited by it all

I had a chat with the architect last night, but until I get a site, there's not much more I can do with regard to a general house design.

Designed, but I am going to keep it very, very simple for 2 reasons.

1. Less for the idiots to fuck up.

Anyway, I'm going for folding doors now, as it seems I can actually get them here. That's good, 'cos that's what I wanted in the first place.

This is the building that inspired my idea. I won't have a pool though, and it will be a bit more useful as a house than the original.
