No never watched a film by either, only heard of the first man.

Always imagined spike lees films as something the PC mob would cheer however bad they were, hardy an incentive for him to even bother trying.

In fact looking at a list of top films by black directors, I haven't watched one.
No real reason, though a racist, I do give people a moment or two to prove my bigotry wrong.
Probably just that the - hood, drugs, rappin, discrimination, violence stuff doesn't really interest me as a movies topic.

Not really that prolific a film viewer though.

If you enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy, you'll be pleased to hear that top notch copies of Vol. 2 are popping up everywhere.

    Agreed.

The 'grow your own heroin' and 'spending money = laundering money' parts were particularly dumb.

Popcorn movies. Don't take them seriously and you'll be fine.

^I've sat through Resident Evil, Logan and XXX 3 this year, the pain of going to the cinema with Thai girls.

It's hard not to be serious. It sure wasn't fine. You can only get away with going for a long piss 2-3 times in a movie without arousing suspicion.

(although getting aroused by some sexpot sitting nearby is nice, just before you slink off)

I didn't make it through Valerian today at the theatre. The first few minutes were great. Then the main characters popped up and were weak in the roles. Special effects were exciting, especially the market scene. After that zzzzzz.

I'm not one of those overexcited adults who goes to watch a movie ''for the effects''

...I leave that to my 6 & 9yr old nephews back in London.

Put that aside, and films like Guardians 2 would just consist of a blank screen.

That's not to say that there aren't popcorn films I enjoy. Just not complete cash ins like these ridiculous superhero movies.

Valerian and the whatevers certainly would.

Without the design and the CGI (which is admittedly Besson at his craziest and best), it has absolutely nowt.

It's been out for a couple of weeks now and it hasn't even made half its budget - and that's before marketing.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before

Watched to the end of series 2 and would say it's been underrated on IMDB.

Survivors of an alien invasion try to rebuild their lives. Not many special effects and the aliens are a constant unseen threat. Surprisingly good.

Atomic Blonde, worst of the lot in recent weeks and fell asleep. The usual unrealistic spy in the cold war stuff and confusing enough for you not to care about. Bit of nice lezzie action and good fight scenes, just too many of them. No darkies of any description, the producer is a racist then Valerian was better than this garbage.

Saw an advance screening of a movie called Good Time starring the main dude from the Twilight teen crap vampire movies, this time in a very different role.

The movie is crime thriller about a bank robbery gone wrong and a guy willing to do anything to bust his mentally handicapped brother out of jail.

Movie was pretty good actually. Very 80's style in tone and the action doesn't let up from start to finish.

There was a Q and A with the cast and director following the movie where you could ask them questions about the film. No one in the film besides Patterson had really ever acted before. Some pretty good performances in the movie considering....

"36th Precinct". Very good French cop movie. Eng subs. 8/10. On PB.

"A Prophet". Super highly rated French prison movie. Eng subs. On PB. Been on the top of most foreign film lists I've seen; IMDB 7.9. I expected a bit more. 7/10.

Davis Knowlton, look away now. I'm sure you'll find fault with this too

French drama. Strangely alluring, good script, strong characters.

Actually a much better film than that nauseating summary might suggest.

Even Pat gets one right once in a blue moon.
