Damond was shot and killed while wearing her pajamas and speaking to another police officer after calling 911 to report a possible assault in an alley behind her home on July 15,
“Three sources with knowledge of the incident said Sunday that two officers in one squad car, responding to the 911 call, pulled into the alley. Damond, in her pajamas, went to the driver’s side door and was talking to the driver. The officer in the passenger seat pulled his gun and shot Damond through the driver’s side door, sources confirmed. No weapon was found at the scene,”

Very sad news. It has made headlines in all the major papers all over Australia. This comes after a drive by shooting of a young Australian man in the USA not so long ago. One would have to wonder why all the body cameras were off. Unfortunately reinforces the negative perception of the U.S. as a very unsafe country.
...you can take the Somali out of Somalia, but you can't take the Somalia out of the Somali...my FB page is crowded with dozens of posts from her godparents, family, friends and acquaintances...here, at least, is a life that mattered...RIP Justine...
^Yes #whitelivesmatter too...
So if she was 40 and you knew her when she was a toddler...just how old are you now tomcat? I'm losing track. Just about adult diaper stage by now I'm guessing.
I knew some miscreant would do the math (we met as toddlers, of course)...btw, I'm told XXL "carefree deposit solutions" are available at the Paragon supermarket: B375 for a pack of 8...TMI?...

The incident
Australian Justine Damond was shot dead by US police officer Mohammed Noor from the passenger seat of his patrol car.
Ms Damond heard a possible assault taking place behind her Minneapolis home, called 911 and was in the alleyway when the officers responded.
She was reportedly in her pyjamas when she approached the car and was shot multiple times.
Officer Noor and his partner's body cameras were not turned on and their police car dashboard camera did not capture the incident.
A mobile phone was reportedly found near Ms Damond's body.Rest is here
Junior cop who shot dead Aussie bride-to-be investigated over 'violent' arrest of woman
The police officer who shot dead an Australian woman, one month short of her dream wedding, was already under investigation, accused of “violently and forcibly” detaining another woman.
Officer Mohamed Noor shot and killed Justine Ruszczyk Damond after she called 911 to report what she believed to be a sexual assault near her Minneapolis home.
As her grieving partner, stepson and Sydney family search for answers, details of Noor’s chequered two-year police career has now come to light.
A complaint by a woman against the 31-year-old rookie policeman and another officer alleges he “violently and forcibly detained her and transported her against her will”.

US examiner rules Justine's death homicide
A Minnesota county medical examiner's office has ruled the fatal police shooting of Australian woman Justine Damond a homicide.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says 40-year-old Ms Damond died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen and has classified the death a homicide.
Police say officers were responding to a call about a possible assault late on Saturday when Ms Damond was killed. Authorities have released no details about what led to the shooting.
Her fiance Don Damond says she had made an emergency call to report what she believed was a sexual assault in an alley near her home.
Chilling new audio has been released of the moments before and after the police shooting of Damond, formerly Justine Ruszczyk, a trained veterinarian and motivational healer who grew up on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Damond, dressed in her pyjamas, is believed to have heard a noise in the alley outside her Minneapolis home on Saturday night local time and called 911.
She reportedly approached the driver's side window of a police car when it arrived in the alley and officer Mohamed Noor shot across his partner at Damond more than once from the passenger seat.

If she wuz carryin' a gun, none of this would have ever happened.

Its an interesting article,
Why shouldn't it have its own thread?
In the future when there's news on this case, you can find and update the thread, and read the previous posts, without it all being buried.
Must be better for generating forum traffic too.
But I guess political Correct control of the members is the main agenda and overrides common sense.
Ok to have several pro gay threads running concurrently on TD- even 2 gay marriage threads in speakers corner.
But shovel all the murder via gun in USA threads into one ?
At least Simons thread had a proper and serious titleYour idea of a funny story?
unlike ''The 'Americans Getting Shot' Thread ''
which sounds glib, insensitive and throwaway, with anti American undertones and allusions to out of control gun laws..
The lady who was murdered was not even American..

What's the point in having thread titles or descriptions if you just post any shit any where?

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Minneapolis Betsy Hodges is demanding to know why neither officer had their bodycam turned on at the time, which she called a 'key question' for investigators.
Noor, 31, has since offered his 'condolences' but demanded everyone respect his privacy after opening fire on the 40-year-old yoga instructor.
As Ms Damond's heartbroken family gathered on Sydney's northern beaches for a silent vigil in her honour, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull demanded answers on how she was killed.
'It is inexplicable. Our hearts go out to her family,' he told 9News on Wednesday.
'How can a woman out in the street in her pyjamas seeking assistance from the police be shot like that? It is a shocking killing.'
