Naah, it's as Biltong says, a "garden fence lizard" aka "Calotes versicolor". I see them in our gardens and are cute little things. Good for keeping cockroaches down.
Some on here may say 'best stay clear of them then Thegent'.Originally Posted by Seekingasylum

(It rained a bit)
All out the door (unharmed) and by hand, ya big Nancy.
Look out for the Giant Centipedes...Nasty bastards, they are...Had a thread about that, sometime back...

Don't be alarmed now.
It's just a quick lick, from a forked tongue.
Yes, there are two paths it can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder........
If wearing pantyhose to bed.
Is a good thing, or a bad thing.

Heh...
Dill's yer man then.Originally Posted by hick
One suspects the spines on it's back would be uncomfortable when withdrawing. The long flicking tongue would be satisfying to some though.Originally Posted by Luigi

We had this bedroom built, rendered block walls, tiles floor, ceiling, new roof, sliding windows/doors, insect screens ... mainly
because I was sick of the creapy crawlies in the old Thai Farmhouse.
Asleep one night and sensed what felt like cockroach antennas tickling over my face.
Brushed the roach off and thought, that was one mother of a roach.
Turned the bedroom light on and a 5 minute hunt revealed that.

A few days latter playing with the kids in the Farmhouse, maybe 30 or 40 of the little suckers were making a break for it.
The cat got maybe 10 of them, my boot another 5 (had to clear the kids first) and the rest made their escape.
Two days later there was another birthing. Fuckers Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The Farm Father put his hand in his Farm Boots (think wellies) and got bitten.
Hurt like fuck apparently and his hand really swelled.
Luckily we don't get scorpions and only a few cobras in these parts, but those Giant Centipedes are something else.
Sorry Dill, not as dramatic the feral pest you were facing ...
^ I've been bitten by one - worse than a scorpion or the big hornets but the pain is not as long lived.
Im feelin all itchy now
Those centipedes scare me more than geckos
They are both evil. If the gecko bites you it wont let go for 20 minutes so you'd have to saw its head off and those centipede bites hurt like fuck for days
How fcuking big are the Gecko's where you live?Originally Posted by Dillinger

That is a gecko right?
Damn what a pussy, afraid of a tiny little lizard. And if a gecko bites you it won't let go for 20 minutes. What a crock of bullshit. You actually believe the shit a Thai person tells you. Are the geckos in your area wearing watches? So they know when its time to let go.
Within a couple of months of my arrival here I was taken by a friend and his wife to their village.
There was a temple festival that was going to be held so we were taking chickens from the "live" stage to the "ready to cook stage". Myself and the other farang were in charge of plucking after the birds were being boiled.
While we were sitting there, a large, black centipede appeared. After my screaming stopped, the wife of the farang I was with put a bowl over the monster and gave another Thai some money.
Soon a bottle of Lau Khao appears and the still living centipede was ceremoniously lowered into the bottle of the devil's urine.
The crowd watched the centipede wiggle as it drowned and as soon as the thing stopped its death twitches, shots were poured.
No, I didn't.
