Chinese tourist goes missing while jet skiing at Koh Samui

Marine police and jet ski drivers on Friday launched a search of a Chinese tourist who went missing while driving a jet ski in the sea off Koh Samui on Thursday.

Led by marine police, about 20 jet skis took part in the search for the Chinese tourist, Zhen Wen-tuk, who was reported to be heading toward Koh Som when heavy rainstorm struck.

The owner of the jet ski then sent its men to look for Zhen because he was supposed to return the vessel after 30 minutes. But he could not be located and a complaint was lodged with the police in the evening.

Search began Friday morning with 20 jet skis being deployed and lasted the whole day, but still there was no trace of Mr Zhen.

I think it's rather good chinky has done a bolt with the Surf Jet Ski.

Drove it up to Patters and sold it to some other Jet Ski owning scum bag.

    One can only hope anyway.

Slope head -One, Thai tosser Zero.

    Nice result that.

Recent fishing boats find jet-skis floating between Koh Phangan and Koh Tao of Koh Phangan, away from Koh Phangan. To the north about 7 nautical miles.
No sign of the missing Chinese tourist.

He is most likely dead, they've found a note in his rented room in which he expressed a death wish.

That doesn't change anything, does it? When they find him he wont be able to tell..
He rode out into the wilderness on his Jolly Jumper with the sun in his neck.

So, am I right in thinking that you have ruled out the possibility that he is pissed in some bar somewhere ? Very strange that two jet skis have been found.

Jet ski found but Chinese driver still missing, believed taking his own life

Marine police said today that a Thai fishing boat has found the jet ski which a Chinese tourist has rented to drive out to the sea from Koh Samui. But he is still unaccounted for.

Skipper of the Choke Sitthichai 16 radioed the marine police this morning that the jet ski was found drifting in the sea with no driver in between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

The fishing boat from Sichon district of Nakhon Si Thammarat said the abandoned jet ski was about 7 nautical miles from Koh Phangan.

Marine police then asked the skipper to tow the jet ski to Kho Phangan.

The tourist identified as Chen Wen Tuk, 34, could not yet be located.

But the Samui Jet Ski Club president Withaya Suksom said after seeing the normal condition of the jet ski as it was spotted by the skipper, it was possible that the driver intended to abandon the jet ski by jumping into the water.

He dismissed speculation of accident saying if the jet ski didn’t capsize, the driver has no chance of falling into the water.

He then said it was possible that the tourist rented the jet ski to take his life in the sea.

Earlier police found a letter in his rented hotel room.

The letter, written in Chinese, was later translated to Thai.

In the letter he apologized his parents for what he did while asking his brother not to behave like him but listen to his parents.

He also hoped that they will in future live together in happiness.

A thorough check of the hotel’s video cameras showed the tourist in black shorts and grey T-shirt and wearing a slipper was walking pass the hotel lobby and crossing the road in front.

Authorities said if Mr Chen took his own life by jumping into the sea, his drowned body will float to the sea surface in three days after May 18, the last day he drove the jet ski out into the sea.

That's a disappointment for those of us who thought he might be found near the Isle of Wight.
